EGIA
The perfect fusion between culture and nature
Egia is a neighborhood of contrasts one step away from the center of San Sebastian. Bars where you can enjoy the best Pintxo-pot, a park with ponds, where you will cross with deer and peacocks, an avant-garde center such as Tabakalera and an active cultural life with concert halls and theaters.
Begin your visit to Egia with a walk along Paseo Urumea, on the banks of this river that divides the city in two. Enter the neighborhood through the underground passage under the train station, but before stop to admire its entrance door, a replica of the old gate that, since 1906, welcomed visitors and San Sebastian who arrived by train to the city from different points of the state.
By crossing this underpass, you will find yourself facing the perfect fusion of history and modernity, Tabakalera. The old tobacco factory converted today into the cradle of contemporary art. You can tour its rooms and see the works of art displayed there. We recommend that you go up to your roof. From its viewpoint there are incredible views of the city.
