A Few Tips for Your Trip:
1. Weather: The Bay Area has microclimates, so the weather changes often. Be sure to wear layers and bring jackets, as San Francisco can be foggy even in summer.
2. Scenic Views: Besides walking on the Golden Gate Bridge, Baker Beach offers great scenic views. The hike starting at Sutro baths is perfect for families and a lot of fun.
3. Marin Headlands: For spectacular bridge views, drive to the Marin Headlands. From there, you can visit Rodeo Beach and Sausalito, a charming fishing town with excellent restaurants.
4. Hiking: One of our favorite trails is Tennessee Valley. It’s about 2 miles long, family-friendly, and offers scenic ocean views and wildlife sightings.
5. Muir Woods: I highly recommend visiting Muir Woods National Monument to see the famous redwood trees. Be sure to book parking in advance!
6. San Francisco Attractions: In the city, you can see sea lions at Pier 39, eat seafood at the Embarcadero, ride a cable car, visit the Legion of Honor museum, the Palace of Fine Arts, Chinatown, or the California Academy of Sciences.
7. Ice Cream: Our favorite ice cream place is 'The Scoop' in Fairfax. It’s a great spot to go to after exploring San Francisco, and it’s on the way back to San Rafael.
