Great Island Property

We arrived to relax, dive, and see the island. We accomplished all three. The restaurant was had the best food, great choices, and just wonderful. Easy to dive, the dive shops picked us up at the resort. Golf cart rental was also easy :-)

Amazing

When we arrived all staff greeted us with such amazing hospitality and provided the best support and service. Our entire groups first time vacationing in Belize for my 49th B-day. Everyone was helpful and it truly felt like a “family”. The restaurant food was delicious and drinks (alcoholic) were the best. Everyone from owners to staff were warm and we all felt truly blessed to have visited. The room was clean and neat. The owner placed a bowl of shells that we were able to sign with the year of our visit and initials. There were several who also added their year of visit back to 2021. What a memory jar…

First trip to Belize

We didn't know what to expect on our first trip to Belize but overall we had a terrific time. Our condo was just as advertised, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again. Location was further from town than we imagined, even though it was mentioned in the ad. Would recommend to friends.

We loved this property! It was very peaceful! Its a long ride to the city, but we prefer the peace and quite. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Quick to respond to any requests. The food at the restaurant was delicious! Great family get away!

Resort Graveyard

Management company taking advantage of all retired owners and investors. The place is a broken down business model. Absolutely the most unclean place we have ever stayed at. Everything is falling apart. Bach is unaccessible due to large beds of algae blocking water access..bird feces everywhere on the building, railings, furniture etc. absolutely disgusting. The pictures are from years ago. It's a catfish scam. Do not go to the resort. I have pictures .

Paradise in Belize.

A week in paradise

We had such a great week here inAmbergris Caye. The condo is great and well appointed. The staff at Saphire beach resort is wonderful. There are many things to do in San Pedro and lots of great excursions. The scuba diving is out of this world. The zip lining and cave tubing is also a lot of fun. I would highly recommend a visit hers if you want to have a railing holiday.

The property is BEAUTIFUL.

Our family of 6 traveled out of the country for the first time, and although our flight arrangements were very bumpy, we were very pleased when we arrived. The hotel staff was very accomodating, the condo was beautiful. The rooms are spacious, the onsite restaurant was delicious and the other restaurants within walking distance were also great. The travel to the resort was quite the ordeal, and getting from place to place is very bumpy, but Jeanette had pre-warned us so we were prepared. Overall, beautiful and amazing vacation!

We had a very relaxing vacation. Jeannette is an outstanding host, extremely helpful and responsive. The property is extremely clean and comfortable, Very spacious and private accomadation. Great views from the balcony's and easy access to the pristine and quiet beach. The resort and it's staff are also wonderful, very attentive there are lots of wonderful trips offered great snorkelling and scuba diving at the blue hole. The restaurant on the resort is very quiet but very good. A very relaxing low key quiet and private resort. We would highly recommend and would stay again. Thank you! Madeleine

Gorgeous views

The property was really great. We were disappointed about the sea grass that was such a nuisance on the beach - smelly and no way to really walk on the beach. This is nothing that can be remedied and we understand that, it was just a detraction. All the staff were really great and attentive. It’s a beautiful property and Jeannette was easy to work with and the information pages were thorough and very helpful.

Family Stay

We stayed for a week with grown children and 2 grandchildren, 3 and 7 during US Feb. school vacation week. The condo was lovely with everything we needed and lovely views. The wind was so strong the first 3 days we could not sit on the beautiful decks nor use kayaks or take boat excursions. Even the beach was too windy. We used the pools that were set back on the resort. Loved the happy hours. So we went to Secret Beach. Bit far out for golf carting everywhere. Water taxi would be great which I heard is a possibility for the future. Felt very safe and secure. Staff were great, especially Gian.

Beautiful

We stayed 6 nights in mid-Feb. 2023. The view from the unit of the beach and ocean is beautiful. All pictures in the listing give you an accurate feel for the property. Bedrooms are spacious. Because it is 10 miles from San Pedro it should appeal to anyone looking for a peaceful place to vacation. My only caution is to consider the dexterity of anyone intending to use the upper floor. Because, as shown by the picture, the spiral staircase is narrow. An earlier review mentioned leaking from the roof and an odor. We had neither during our stay.

Quiet Getaway Off the Beaten Path

My family and I had a wonderful time staying at Sapphire Beach Resort on Ambergris Caye! The resort itself is beautiful and spacious, updated bedrooms & bathrooms. The stairs leading up to the master are definitely pretty steep (as mentioned in previous reviews). The beach on the resort was better than any other beach that we had seen (they clear it daily so it stays beautiful). There are 2 pools and one under construction, as well as a restaurant at the resort. We personally weren’t too fond of the on-site restaurant, but there are many places in San Pedro, which is a boat ride/ bumpy care ride away! We loved Belize – our only hiccup, which we should have expected from previous reviews, was that the location of Sapphire Beach is extremely off the beaten path. Restaurants & town aren’t walking distance away, but Sapphire Beach was definitely a quiet getaway. And getting to town isn’t difficult once you learn the boat schedule. It is definitely... an adventure. Overall, we had a great time on Ambergris Caye.

Definitely a quiet getaway

So if you read other reviews they make a big deal about the location. Let me just confirm there is no great way to get to this location. We tried them all coastal express ( probably the fastest way but choppy waves makes this a rough trip) taxi costs about $50 but also takes 45 minutes down a pot hole road and golf cart same deal rough ride on the road. Once you arrive you realize you are in a foreign country the have to have it right away of America is definitely not the belizian way once you understand this your trip seems to become more laid back. The condo is as pictured definitely nice. A couple things the upstairs bedroom is up a steep spiral stair case so not ideal to carry bags up. The main acunit was not working and like I said earlier the staff is on Belize priorities so took them 2 days to come look and they never returned to fix it. Wasn’t horrible but would of been nice to have it working during our 5 day visit. Beach was seaweed infected they worked hard trying to it clean but it never was clean of seaweed during our visit. The bugs destroyed me they did spray unfortunately they did as we were eating dinner so they was unpleasant I think 4 stars is fair was a nice place pictures are accurate but the lack of attention to fixing the AC and other items we had to ask multiple times for like more water leaves me wishing it was just a little better all the way around.

"Last" resort

I reserved this property as a luxury, relaxing, fun getaway for my birthday. There were three other ladies & me (all 40+). Upon arriving at the "resort" I was immediately taken aback. Ultimately, we checked in around 4pm and checked out for a more suitable luxury experience elsewhere at 9pm the same night. Note: It was Sunday evening and there was not 24hr staffing. This "resort" was all but abandoned. Walking to the unit we were attacked by mosquitos. Upon initial entry to the unit things appeared to be as listed. Once we tried to get settled in it was another story. Over 15 years of using VRBO and this property was by far the most disappointing. Some of the appliances were rusted, the outdoor furniture was rusted and worn and needs to be replaced. There was patch work that was done that had not been repainted. We had issues with the A/C units only working intermittently and the microwave had no power (we were ultimately informed that a breaker had tripped). The comforter in the master bedroom had stains on it (housekeeping did come replace it quickly). The shower in one of the guest bedrooms did not get hot and the shower water was EXTREMELY salty with an odor that resembled sewage. One of my guests was on her bed and kept saying she felt like something was crawling on her. Initially we couldn't figure out what it was and then we saw these tiny ants. Now, 3 weeks later and VRBO says because I chose to leave these conditions no refund can be issued. I would not recommend.

Looked good on the site, alittle disappointing in person.

Had several issues. Rain dripping in from ceiling several days starting on Tuesday till Friday, even twice onto mattress. Management didn't resolve the issue until the day before we left. Rain poured in from one window upstairs onto the floor. Also in one of the showers the handle broke off with water was running and wouldn't shut off, called management again. The microwave, stove and tea kettle didn't work, electricity wouldn't work on those circuits. Management came and tripped the circuits, they went out again, we tried tripping them, but wouldn't work. We had to move microwave into the living area to plug in to get to work. We did contact Jeanette about our issues she said she would contact management. The showers both had a sewagy smell to them when running them. Overall, we would not choose this place again due to the amount Had several issues. Overall, we would not choose this place again due to the amount of time we had to put in contacting management which took away from celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary with our children and grandchildren.

Prettier than the pictures

Jeanetts's property is beautiful, even better than you can tell from the photos. Her rental manual was so thorough and helped us prepare for a great trip. It was the perfect place for our multigenerational family. The staff helped us with our boat and taxi transfers and were very easy to correspond with when a flight delay changed our schedules. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Gem restaurant has great food and drink! Order groceries from Lagniappe and you hardly need to go anywhere! We rented golf carts for a trip to Secret Beach and took a half day snorkeling/fishing trip. Belize is beautiful and so hospitable. Bring lots of bug spray.

Excellent Vacation

We had a great time, only complaint, and I mean only has to do with road to town is poor at best. It’s a solid 40-45 minutes to town for I experienced drivers on the golf carts. Also be careful when renting a cart so you get a quality vehicle with better shocks and dependability. Positives: everything else, the staff is awesome, the excursions from on site staff were tremendous. The people of Belize are fantastic to foreigners and treat you like family, can’t say enough good things about the people.

Rooms were great some resort amenities need work

The rooms were as described and clean. Jeanette was very helpful answering any questions we had prior to arrival. The resort grounds were mostly clean and up kept. There are many units that are only half constructed so there is that to look at. However no construction was occurring during our stay. The on-site food options were inconsistent. Some days it was great. Sometimes it was terrible. Most of the staff was helpful and nice. If we decide to come back to Ambergris Caye we will likely stay somewhere a little closer to town. This was quite the drive to town.

Relaxing Week

The unit was just as presented; clean, comfortable, tons of space, and everything you need for a great stay. Jeanette was easy to work with through the whole process, provided great tips for things to do and the staff was always pleasant and responsive. The distance from town allowed for both solitude when needed and an easy drive to other locations if a little exploring was desired. Would definitely stay again if I return to the island.

Great Unit But Isolated Location in Expensive Countey

There were 5 of us taking our first trip to Ambergris Caye Belize in July 2019. All adults except one 11 year old boy. The unit was beautiful and well cared for, as was the overall property. If you want a quiet retreat with limited ocean access this is the spot for you. Entertainment: It didn’t work too well for our group (3 in the mid to late 20’s and a child) in terms of entertainment because of how isolated it was. The property was the furthest North on the island, so evening activities were only available on the property unless you are at the Chat N Chill next door, which wasn’t great. You could take a water taxi on a boat with no front light, but unless it is their busy season, you had to be home by 8:30pm. A taxi ride from downtown San Pedro was $50 Belizean. Ocean Access: The property, Sapphire Beach, advertises kayaks and paddle boards, but that isn’t doable, as there is strong currents and large amount of sea grass in and around the beach. In fact you really couldn’t swim in the ocean from this location. You could fish from the dock as they loaned you fishing poles and gave you frozen minnows. Take their Hol Chan Shark Ray trip, as it is an inexpensive intimate trip with you and your knowledgeable guide. Restaurant And Bar: The restaurant was small and often a challenge to find someone working there or in the tiki bar, but once you did, the service was great, as was the food and drinks. Transportation: Do yourself a favor and rent a golf cart in town! We rented from Avis and they were very accommodating. Initially we had a six-passenger cart which was lacking any shocks, so you felt every bump going to and from town. Once our fifth person left the island, Avis quickly traded us for a 4 person cart, which was a lot more comfortable-better shocks. The price was almost half of the cost of the resort rentals, as well. Belize In General: The Belizean people were super friendly and the food and drinks were great, for the most part. We only had one scary moment with a bloody man with a large wound begging for $2. My main concern with Belize as a country is where the money goes to, as pay is low $3 Belizean, and the roads aren’t well cared for-they aren’t properly paved and there is trash everywhere. If you are looking for an inexpensive vacation, Mexico would be a more reasonable option.
