OLD SJ 1ST fl apt ON EXCLU ST W GREAT BAY VIEW !

This Old SJ apart is unique for an Old San Juan short term rental :
1 The apt has a completely private entrance from st - 1st Floor --3 steps to living room - no carrying luggage up narrow stairways
2. Owners live in the building
3. It has A Great view of pelicans,San Juan Bay+ all ships entering and leaving harbor
The famous "Plaza La Rogativa" is directly in front of house
4. It offers GREAT security + Police vigilance. House is directly across from Governor's residence
5. The house is located steps from entrance to "El Morro" National Park / 4 blocks from supermarket and main plaza , 2- 7 blocks from parking lots + garages
2 bedrooms - ONLY ONE BEDROOM r with AIRCONDITIONING , living room , kitchen + outdoor patio wi fi , cable This aparment has air conditioning in only 1 bedroom but has good cross ventilation from patio in back and front entrance .
The 1st bedroom is located after the living room . The doors between the living room and this bedroom were removed in the interest of ventilation and aesthetics. The 1st bedroom is followed by a small hallway located between the 1st and 2nd bedrooms where the bathroom is located . There is a door separating the hallway from the 2nd bedroom but there is NO door between the 1st bedroom and the hallway if privacy is an issue. The renovation of this Spanish colonial home to create 2 1st floor apartments resulted in 1 room after another in a straight line.

This 1st floor apartment is in a renovated Spanish Colonial home . It is 1 of the oldest Spanish colonial homes in the old city. The entrance to apartment is about 20 yards from the fortified Old City Wall . The apart is about 2 1/2 ft above the level of the st which improves the view.
The 1st bedroom is located after the living room . The doors between the living room and this bedroom were removed in the interest of ventilation and aesthetics. The 1st bedroom is followed by a small hallway located between the 1st and 2nd bedrooms where the bathroom is located . The property is located on a privileged and very special street. called "Caleta de las Monjas" -the Street of the Nuns. - also known as "the street of the statues " - there are 3 statues on the fascade of the Cathedral and 3 more in the small plaza at the beginning of the st. - in front of the Hotel El Convento. At the end of the street there is a very large bronze statue right in front of the house. . "Caleta de las Monjas " is a very unique street with San Juan Cathedral at its beginning and El Morro National Park at the end along with the PR Governor's mansion known as "La Fortaleza" It is also one of the most painted streets of the Old City by local artists.

Caleta de las Monjas is a residential sreet but is only 3 blocks from the main plaza of Old San Juan known as "Plaza de las Armas" which has a Pharmacy , the Old City's only Supermarket, a Marshall's , 3 fast food restaurants ,and both an outdoor and indoor coffee /internet cafes - Many other shops , restaurants and bars are within 3 to 5 blocks. There are no bars or other businesses on this st. . There is very little vehicular traffic - mostly residents and police who are assigned to the protection of the "Fortaleza" .

""Caleta de las Monjas"" is probably the safest and most secure street in Old San Juan .There is a small police barracks attached to the Governor's mansion one block from property in addition to the Hotel' Convento's security and cameras. The Governor of Puerto Rico enters and exits the executive mansion from the gates directly in front of the property

At the beginning of "Caleta de las Monjas " is San Juan Cathedral and the Hotel Convento a 4 Star Hotel which was once a former Convent. At the very end of the street is located the Governor''s Mansion known as "La Fortaleza" and the back entrance to the National Park "" Ël "Morro"" which is very popular for walking , and kite flying.. The property itself is directly in front of the Governor's Mansion's gardens and back gate. The fort known as Ël Morro"is about an 8 minute walk from property.

The property is only 6 houses down the street from the 4 Star Hotel ""El Convento"" which offers a " tapas" bar and a restaurant. Taxis are available 24/7 in front of the Hotel..

By car the property is about 15 traffic free minutes away from the airport. and about , 5 minutes to the nearest blue flag beach Ëscambron" which is next to the Caribe Hilton . You can also access this beach via bus followed by a 4 minute walk or via a free trolley followed by a 10 minute walk.

Parking is available free on the streets of the Old City . There is also a large outdoor lot about an 8 minute walk from the property. There are also several indoor parking garages 7-8 blocks from property.

The 1st floor apartment has a large rectangular living room with 1 large futon -. with Cable TV. There is 1 air conditioned bedroom with a queen bed and an + bedroom with a full bed. . The kitchen has an electric stove, refrigerator , blender and microwave. This 1st floor apartment also has a private outdoor patio shaded by an overhanging mango tree.

The bay can actually be seen from every room except the bathroom.

There is a shower with a hot water heater ;the sinks -bathroom and kitchen- receive unheated water.

The outdoor private patio can be used for dining & morning coffee & is very cool at all hours of the day due to the shade from the mango tree. There is sun entering the patio from about midmorning for about one hour .
This is a great apartment especially for a family or group since living room and bedrooms can accommodate up to 6 or 7 persons if privacy is not a consideration. There are 17 foot ceilings with ceiling fans in all rooms and also floor fans .

The house is located in the quietest and most peaceful corner of the Old City. The property is located on a residential street with very little vehicular traffic and NO noise from jukeboxes and bar activity . There are only 10 residences and 3 larger condominiums located on Caleta de las Monjas not including the Governor's mansion which borders this street. The presence of a police barracks attached to the Governor's Mansion gives this corner of OSJ a special tranquility and security

Owners also live in this house and are available for a late checkin. We can also hold luggage if a late checkout is not possible.

Perfect Stay in Old San Juan: Exceptional Hospitality and Ideal Location
Our stay in Old San Juan was nothing short of exceptional, thanks to Peter, our wonderful host. From the moment we booked, communication with Peter was seamless, making the entire experience stress-free. We arrived in the early hours of the morning, but Peter graciously accommodated our late check-in without any issues. The property itself was immaculate—spotlessly clean with every amenity we could ask for. The bedroom's air conditioning was a godsend in the tropical heat, ensuring a comfortable night's sleep after long days of exploring. The location couldn't have been more perfect; nestled in the heart of Old San Juan, we were steps away from vibrant bars, convenient grocery stores, charming shops, and just a short walk from iconic attractions like San Felipe castle. Peter's hospitality truly went above and beyond. Not only did he make us feel welcome upon arrival, but he also generously allowed us a late check-out to accommodate our evening flight home. This gesture made our last day in Puerto Rico stress-free and enjoyable. If you're looking for a place to stay in Old San Juan that combines comfort, convenience, and exceptional hospitality, look no further than Peter's property! Our experience was nothing short of five-star, and we can't wait to return.

My husband and I stayed here for just under a week on our first trip to Puerto Rico, and we loved it! The property's location is amazing! It's right by the water and within easy walking distance to plenty of shopping, dining, and more. There was no street noise, and it felt very safe, especially with a guard present across the street near the governor's residence. The host was very welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. As a fun bonus, there was a colony of cats. We learned there's a nearby sanctuary, and the community cares for them. In return, the cats help control insects and rodents. If you rent a car like we did, be aware there's no street parking. You'll need to park in a garage about a 10-15 minute walk from the apartment, but it's inexpensive. We would definitely stay here again if we return to San Juan.

The charm and convenience of this property made our trip unforgettable. Highly recommend staying here for anyone looking to explore the best of Old San Juan!

Location! Safe! Authentic San Juan home! We very much enjoyed staying here. The location was fabulous. Very comfortable, quiet, clean home. If you are looking for living like a local this is the place. Walking distance to many attractions, restaurants, street with night life. Easy to walk to grocery and plaza for morning coffee. Peter-very pleasant host, easily available if any concerns. Used Uber for local beaches-Balneario Escambron and Balneario Carolina Isla Verde and both safe to swim and hang with the locals. We only had a weekend and still able to enjoy every minute with lots of new experiences. We will be back San Juan!

This apartment is so quaint! The pictures don’t quite capture the layout, but it’s almost like one long hallway that ends in an adorable back patio. Every room has a high quality ceiling fan and the back bedroom can be closed off with AC in that room. The only warning I’d give to future guests is that the front and back doors don’t have full screens, so any and all of the mosquitoes get in! That for me is a nightmare, so it made it challenging to relax (without putting bug spray on, even after showers, etc.)! Other than that though, we loved this spot, and bonus 24/7 police detail literally across the street from the front door since it’s the Governor’s mansion! The host Peter was very helpful, attentive, and accommodating.

3 weeks in Old San Juan
We really enjoyed our 3 week stay in Old San Juan . Peter’s place is perfect if you enjoy the rustic charm of Old San Juan. The location is perfect with water views from the living room. Several times I got up and out just to take pictures of passing boats Every thing you need is a short walk. It’s not a 5 star hotel .. there’s one up the street at 3 times the cost, if that’s your thing.. We will stay again if in Old San Juan

Walked everywhere as we did not rent a car. Saw must see attractions, attended festival, restaurants, fixed meals in from close by Super Max. Enjoyed sitting in the doorway watching wedding, tourists, dogs and cats, boats passing in the bay, the coming and going of the governor over seen by 24 hour guard at the gate to his residence.

Fabulous location, apartment adequate
The location was wonderful, but the apartment was really just adequate. Due to the railroad-style layout, it was quite dark. The bathroom was quite cramped, with no space for toiletries, and very loud plumbing. We are self-sufficient travelers and don’t need advice or hand-holding from the owners, but this owner really did not even offer any assistance. We have rented apartments in many cities around the world and have always enjoyed it when the owner seems excited to share local knowledge, insider tips, etc. with their guests. This owner provided nothing of the sort. We’ve also experienced owners’ hospitality in other apartments such as a few breakfast items, or a bottle of wine. Here, again, nothing of that sort. So, it was fine but I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend it

Authentic Old San Juan
Ideal location in very scenic and safe part of the old city. Lovely small park just across the street overlooks the harbor. Near governor’s house so there is security presence. Walking distance to the historic forts along well maintained harbor path walkway. Walking distance to lots of dining options, shopping and bars. Just down the street from main cathedral which has a taxi stand. House itself is spacious and eclectic. Not a cookie cutter hotel room or generic short term rental. This is a home. Hosts provide everything you need as well as thoughtful touches and recommendations. They live next door. House is laid out nicely with good airflow front to back to capture the harbor breezes. Loved the private courtyard off of the kitchen in back. Peaceful and authentic in perfect location. We will definitely stay there again when our travels next bring us to Old San Juan.
