A seven-minute picturesque stroll to quaint but active West Portal with multiple eateries and eclectic shopping, with MUNI train lines for a 4-minute ride to the Castro, 11 minute ride to Powell (downtown SF). Or transfer after 6 minutes at Civic Center for BART for regional destinations, e.g. San Francisco Airport, 29 minutes. A cab from the airport costs about $60. We're about 2 miles from the UCSF Parnassus campus.
West Portal features numerous opportunities to hike through off-the-beaten-path, non-touristy neighborhoods in Forest Hill, Saint Francis Wood, and also Mount Davidson for stellar views of the entire bay. Easy ride (or 45-minute walk) to the San Francisco Zoo and the Pacific Ocean.
