An Unpleasant Surprise
TL;DR: Tolerable after some changes. ** THE GOOD: Bathroom is a nice size, clean & seems remodeled. View is great. Kitchen was furnished very well. ** THE BAD: Originally came with stained, dirty bedding (host replaced them, we had clean bedding the 3rd night onward) covered in animal hair which triggered allergies. Took 14 hrs for initial reply from host, then about 4-6 hours thereafter for a reply. As stated in the listing, using the heater is not allowed. It has ~10 stairs not disclosed in the listing. It is not immediately clear that this is a shared unit- it was listed under Amenities > More > House Manual as an aside. It is above a "retired couple" who sounded like they were doing construction a Saturday morning from 7 am to 9 am. Probably due to the holiday, but there was also a baby and a dog onsite as well that were very loud. The host described it as a "big house" and described bedrooms that didn't exist when discussing bedding, causing confusion for everyone. There is a door with a key broken off in it that connects to the main house. The TV flops startlingly forward. ** THE WEIRD: Though the host requested a slightly later check in, which we agreed to, the unit wasn't cleaned well and there was a KNIFE in the bedside drawer. All art shown in the photos was in the closet also.
