Great Sunny Location, Close To Food, Shopping, Downtown And Public Tranport

Located in one of the best cities in the world, in the sunniest and most vibrant neighborhood in San Francisco. The Mission District is compared with Greenwich Village: eclectic and authentic, hip and unique. By now, The Mission District is no longer a secret--visitors are coming to the Mission from all over, seeking its amazing cafes, restaurants, night life, shopping, and vibrancy.

We are excited to offer our 2nd listing in the Mission! You will enjoy the great location; as well, you will appreciate the comfort and beauty of this home.

The house features 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a dramatic four poster queen size bed, with a huge window with views of the outside plants and garden. The blue room features a full size bed as well as a small desk. The orange room is equipped with two twin beds that convert to a King size bed, depending on your needs. All the beds have been set up with your comfort in mind: high quality cotton sheets, duvets and of course, comfortable mattresses. You will all sleep well!
The kitchen is well equipped and features Cherry cabinets and granite countertops. Stainless steel appliances. The living room is a super comfortable space with an upright piano, amazing stereo system (including a record player and records!) and of course, a flat screen TV.

The icing on the cake is the roof deck! Enjoy the Mission Sunshine on the private and comfortable deck. You will have a hard time deciding whether to stay home and BBQ on the deck or take a walk to some of the best restaurants in the city. Our advice: do both!

The City
Lots of room to entertain. The apartment furnishing need a little help. Kitchen was well stocked with cookware etc. We used the upper deck a lot but cushions were lacking. Plants and planters were in disrepair. However we would love to stay here again. The sunny Mission was true to its name. We walked everywhere with no problem. Didn’t walk past 17th, 16th st etc.on purpose. Having lived in SF in the 70’s it’s not the same city, homeless everywhere, garbage etc all over the streets and sidewalks. I still love the City. Food, views etc. are stupendous everywhere. Landlord lives out of town but was extremely accommodating and easy to contact with quick responses.

Living large in the Orange House in the Mission
We spent 2 months here. It felt like home! We loved the house and the neighborhood. The house is located in a charming and quiet part of the Mission. Good food options really close by. We were a little afraid of the parking situation but it was not an issue. I guess we had the advantage of working from home so we could move the car when needed. A little planning goes a long way. We had everything we needed. I brought my cast iron pan from home just to see that there was a cast iron pan already there in the house :) Dan, the owner, was always responsive and attentive. He really cares about the neighborhood, the house, and the guests. He currently lives far but has a network of people that helps out. I would definitively recommend this house to people coming to visit San Francisco!

Good spot in San Fran!
Stayed there with some friends for a first time visit to San Fran. First off, the owner, Dan, was really prompt in answering questions and even sent us a neighborhood guide. The place itself is small but it was adequate. Lots of vibrant colors on the walls, not something every one can deal with but for the neighborhood that is located in, it just goes. The bed on the master bedroom was small, my husband is a big guy and so it was kind of tight for us, so overall bed was not comfortable. The other 2 rooms were my friends stayed were reported to have comfortable beds. The neighbors were a bit noisy so sleeping in was out of the question. There was also some kind of construction going on on the next street over so the jackhammering noise was terrible. However, this is not fault of the owner or the property, just bad luck. Additionally, one bathroom for 4 adults is just too tight. I would recommend this place if you are a couple or a family, not really for friends. Now, for the positives: The property is an old construction as most of the Mission neighborhood is. Kind of eclectic, interesting, it reminded me a lot of the Wynwood neighborhood in Miami. If you are from SoFla you will know. Kind of an up and coming neighborhood. Mission neighborhood is mostly Mexican settlement. Great Mexican food around , bars , good restaurants. Enjoyable. The place was very clean, they had white crisp towels and even TP in the bathroom, something i have not normally seen in rental places. Nice touch. The highlight for me though, was the roof top deck. It was great!. Clean, well mantained and cool. We spent time there relaxing, drinking wine and listening to music. Definitely a gem to thave that on a property in San Francisco. Overall a nice place to stay , and for the price, is a good deal.

Great place to stay
Fantastic location, lovely house. Really helpful owners who have also made a book of useful local information. The major bonus is the fabulous roof deck.

Perfect place in a great area
We loved "our orange house"! The communal spaces were amazing. The deck a haven for hanging out with family and friends. The grill needed loving but served to let us make a feast. The kitchen was great and well kitted. And the living room was lovely. The bedrooms were perfect too. I was worried about the kids room as it opened to the living room and lets in lots of light. But a noisemaker for sound and late bedtimes for light meant our little ones slept great there. Even slept in! The only thing that stank was parking, but we knew that going in to it so no biggie. Thanks for sharing your place Dan. We'd definitely go back!

Great house, great location!
This is a fantastic vacation rental in the San Francisco Mission district! 5 friends and I rented the SF Mission Roof Deck Retreat for a long weekend in May and were not disappointed. It was the perfect headquarters to explore the city. The neighborhood surrounding the house is fairly quiet at night, but stores, shops, nightlife, and restaurants are only a short walk away. The house itself was extremely clean and well stocked. Linens, towels, and beds were freshly laundered and comfortable. The house was spacious enough for 6 adults, and we enjoyed hanging out on the rooftop deck as well as in the living room and kitchen (having a vinyl record player was a great touch!). I highly recommend renting this house if you have a group of 4+ people - the value per person unbeatable when compared to the standard hotel stay. We frequently commented that it was so nice to have an actual house to hang out, rest, and catch up with one another - something that is not possible when split up across 3-4 hotel rooms. Another added value was having a full kitchen, facilitating the ability to cook breakfast at the house when we didn't feel like all going out in the morning. Dan, the owner, was extremely communicative and easy to work with and check-in and out was a breeze! Thanks for helping us have a fantastic vacation!

Neat retreat
This apartment is well situated in the Mission....close to market, laundry, coffee house and restaurants. We had 5 adults and had plenty of room. Kitchen works. Roof deck is great. We would stay again if we had that many people.

What an awesome place!!
I can't say enough great things about the Rooftop Retreat in Mission! The house is comfortable, welcoming, cute and fun...wonderful bedrooms, beautiful kitchen, comfy living room and fabulous rooftop deck full of plants, lounges and art that is perfect for catching sun and relaxing. We also got a kick out of being able to play the records and also having a piano. The neighborhood is full of amazing shops, restaurants, and markets. And it's only a few blocks from the 24th St Mission Bart stop so no need to rent a car! It'll drop you off straight from the airport! The owner Dan was totally great to work with too--so nice, prompt, professional and helpful. I definitely would like to stay here again when we visit SF!

Clean, great location...very nice and attentive owner.
We rented this property while in town for a wedding. 4 adults and 1 child. We had other family rent houses in the same neighborhood but this was the place we all would gather. It was the cleanest and most comfortable of all of them! The owner has put together two binders with property and local information on restaurants, delis, etc. This is a great place, nice hardwood floors, quirky art, bright colors, awesome rooftop deck. I hope to come back!

Exactly as Advertised
This was a nearly perfect short-term property. Great for a bigger group (we had four adults, all sleeping in separate accommodations). In a great part of the city (wish we had had more time to explore) and within a short (15-20 minute) walk to the BART. The rooftop retreat was great, and lots of nice little amenities. Very comfortable kitchen and living room. Not great if you have a car, but you hardly need one. Lots to see and do in the Mission district, and easy to get to other parts of town. Easy to find, good instructions for check-in/out. Owner was very responsive both before, during, and after the trip. Highly recommended.

Cute curb appeal but smelled very musty when we walked in. Bought a candle to burn. Cute place and linens were clean and beds comfy. Had to change out water pan under sink as was overflowing. Mission area was pretty dark at night and did feel a little unsafe walking at night as restaurants etc were several blocks away. The owner had great communication and gave info about the area and their favorite restaurants. Easy rental and enjoyed it.

Can't wait to visit the SF Mission Roof Deck Retreat again!
We visited the SF Roof Deck Retreat the week of Labor Day. We were four adults and found the accommodations to be spacious, comfortable and filled with wonderful natural light. The photos on the website depicted this property well. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the rooftop deck every day.We even had a candle light dinner up there one evening! Coming from the East Coast it was pure delight to relax up there amongst all the wonderful succulents, the limes growing on the tree next to our patio table, and that big beautiful palm tree overlooking the neighborhood. We found the kitchen well equipped. The linens were luxurious. Having fresh air flowing in through that neat opened window in the bathroom while showering was a unique treat. We enjoyed exploring the Mission. The murals throughout this eclectic neighborhood where enchanting. We also frequented Philz coffee shop and Mission Pie bakery many times! Eat more PIE became the motto of our vacation. Overall, we would highly recommend staying at the SF Roof Deck Retreat while visiting San Fransisco. Next time we will bring more people with us to fill that third bedroom and maybe even spill out into that lovely living room!! Thank you for providing us a wonderful retreat while we were in your wonderful city. It by far exceeded any hotel we possibly could have stayed in. We truly felt like we had all the comforts of home! We will return! Sincerely, Kathleen Schelling

A long weekend in the best city in the world
My husband, son, and our son's girlfriend, who were both visiting from the east coast, spent three days in this authentically San Francisco-style home and enjoyed everything about it. The Mission District is a very colorful neighborhood and the home is conveniently located within it. The house is filled with light and character, from the old piano in the living room, the vibrant colors on the walls, the skylights and stained glass windows, to the collection of pottery in the kitchen. The house is warm and inviting...everything very clean and comfortable...the photos don't adequately capture the charm. The rooftop garden was a huge plus. Walking distance to grocery shopping and tons of restaurants of every imaginable cuisine, cafes, clubs. Everywhere you walk you'll come across spectacular murals sprinkled throughout the area. Although we didn't spend all of our time in the Mission (so much to see and do elsewhere in the City), some of the highlights were Philz Coffee at 25th and Mission (they brew coffee one cup at a time and have a dizzying array of choices), The Foreign Cinema on Mission near 20th (fabulous restaurant converted from an old movie house, complete with French films playing on a large white wall at the back of the outdoor seating area, with old drive-in movie theater speakers at each table if you care to listen in. Another favorite restaurant is a little French bistro called Garcon, on the corner of Valencia and 22nd. An inexpensive but phenomenally delicious Peruvian restaurant, Limon, is at the corner of 21st and South Van Ness. Not within walking distance, but a short drive away, is one of the best breakfast places we've ever eaten at: Mission Beach Cafe at Guerrero and 14th. They also serve lunch and dinner, but you can't beat their breakfasts...expect a wait, but it's worth it. Dolores Park is another must see nearby, but probably not walking distance, unless you're up for a bit of a hike...it's do-able...you can always catch a taxi back. Fabulous views of the city from the top of the park, and it's just another great neighborhood to walk around in, teeming with life. Dan, the owner, was very responsive and provided a wealth of information prior to our visit, as well as responding to requests after our arrival. I would definitely recommend this property.
