Welcome to an amazing secret in the heart of Hillcrest. Located one block away from Balboa Park and the world renowned San Diego Zoo. This bright spacious 2 bedroom 2 bath recently updated home is perfect for long stays or quick weekend getaways. Our place is located in a true walking neighborhood they are numerous coffee shops, restaurants, bars and many other attractions within walking distance. We are located five minutes away from Downtown San Diego and only 15 minutes away to La Jolla.

Hillcrest is a neighborhood in San Diego located northwest of Balboa Park. It is an accepting urban village with a small town feel. Hillcrest is known for its tolerance, diversity and locally-owned businesses including eclectic restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs and boutique shopping. It is also known for its salons and spas, medical offices, two major hospitals and the largest concentration of LGBTQ+ owned businesses in the city.

Balboa Park is a cultural oasis that includes 17 museums, gardens galore and the world-famous San Diego Zoo. At 1,200 acres, Balboa Park is one of North America’s most iconic urban parks and a must see on any visit to San Diego

Being in the heart of the city, Balboa Park and Hillcrest are accessible by a number of major streets. Additionally, Hillcrest is among the most walkable neighborhoods in San Diego with a neighborhood Walk Score of 87. Rideshare is easily accessible. Many Bird scooters and bikes nearby.

Pet friendly, $99 per stay!
No smoking, loud music or parties. We do accept pets but it is important to pickup after them on a daily basis. Also, there will be an additional one time charge of $99 for pet cleaning.

We had a great trip for my granddaughters 3rd birthday. Adorable little house and a great fenced yard for the dog. The owners were attentive and the snacks were a perfect touch. I would definitely stay again.

We’ve stayed here several times. We love that it’s close to restaurants, balboa park, markets, overall enjoy the location. Nice and quiet neighborhood. Nice touch to have drinks and snacks. Gina and Efrain always check in to make sure we are enjoying our stay. We plan to stay here again.

Perfect for a weekend getaway
The apartment was clean and had everything we needed for our stay! It was child friendly and super close to the Zoo. The neighborhood felt safe and was quiet. Close enough to downtown and Gaslamp district. Would definitely recommend this apartment for a a stay in SD!

We had an excellent stay! The house was large enough and comfy enough that we didn't mind staying in to weather Hurricane Hilary (the extra large couch and strong AC are clutch). The only "ding" is that the bathrooms are slightly outdated, but the outdoor space and other amenities make up for it!

The unit has all the necessities and is quiet and comfortable. The yard is fully enclosed and spacious, great for dogs. The gate is a little tough to latch when exiting, but we managed, and everything else was fabulous.

My family and I were in San Diego for vacation and decided to get a Vrbo instead of 2 separate hotel rooms. The house was easy to find. The check in was very easy as well as the check out process. We had a good time and enjoyed the peacefulness of having a house. The only downfall was the lack of water pressure when taking a shower and the house could use a very deep cleanining.

Efrain was an excellent host! He followed up shortly after I checked in to esure that we had everything we needed. If I messaged him he would responded quickly. The house was very clean and exactly as described. The area is safe and quiet. Parking on the street is easy if you do not want to park in the garage. Perfect location for a stay in San Diego! Would highly recommend this home. We will definitely be staying here again!

We stayed at the sutra in hillcrest while in town to attend a wedding. The location is close to everything, quiet neighborhood with great parking! The House was clean and decorated very nicely! Plenty of towels! The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and has a coffee maker. The owner is so kind and even let us checkout late. We will definitely be back to stay again!!

Great Stay cation!!
We needed a place to stay with our pets while our house was being fumigated- this worked out perfectly! The host was very communicative and check I with us before, during and after our stay. The house is in a lovely neighborhood and felt very safe. The private gated yard was a big plus with our little dog! The last day we realized we were within walking distance of many great coffee shops and restaurants, plus the zoo right around the corner!! I would recommend anyone visiting or looking for a staycation- to stay here!!

Perfection!
I rented this home for a week long family visit to San Diego. 3 adults and a 6 year old. The neighborhood was quiet and we were able to walk everywhere. Coffee shops down the street, Balboa Park and the Zoo. We rented a car to do the outlying things but with all this quaint little neighborhood affords you don't really need to. The owners were very attentive when asked questions and helped with a couple of challenges we have due to food allergies. A sweet little spot for anyone planning a trip to SD.

A Jem in San Diego
Property is well situated. We were quite literally 10-15 mins from beaches, shopping, SeaWorld, etc and only a couple of blocks walking distance to Balboa Park. A really great location! The house is well appointed and tidy. There were 4 of us (husband, myself, 2 kids) and we never felt like we were tripping over each other. The couch at this place is so big and awesome- I want one for my house. Efrain and Gina are lovely hosts, and responded immediately on the few occasions we reached out with questions. I would definitely stay here again!

Pleasant Stay
Location couldn't be better. Host couldn't be better. Furniture and layout could be improved. Kitchen wall cabinets and microwave were installed 12" higher than normal, so reaching up for dishes or to pull a hot drink out of the micro was risky. Vertical blinds in kitchen need repair. One of the bedrooms had just a night stand, so no place to put luggage or clothes. We made do.

Pleasant Stay in San Diego
Our VRBO unit was in a nice, quiet neighborhood and within easy walking distance to Balboa Park (and the zoo). It was very clean and nicely furnished. The two bathrooms were very clean, as well. The appliances were in all very good repair and operation. One of the kitchen table chairs was in for repairs and the temporary replacement was too tall, but we assume that problem was soon fixed after our departure. The drain stopper in one of the bathrooms didn't work, but we assume that also has been fixed since we left. The owner of the VRBO was very accommodating, as well as pleasant and easy to work with in our given circumstances.

Wonderful Stay!
Property is quite nice, great location, affordable, and has basically everything you would need while on a trip! We used the kitchen quite a bit, and the full fridge / freezer and stove / oven allowed us to basically make home cooked meals and eat at / fully enjoy the property. We had our small dog too, and he was able to take care of his business on the backyard lawn (we cleaned up after him of course) and I did my morning workouts in the backyard too. We went in January, so it was cold, and all the house heaters kept the place nice and warm. If I was going to be really picky, our only complaint was the San Diego water taste! We are from Sacramento and are used to water without minerals (of course, Davis and Woodland have that mineral taste too), so we used ice cubes from the freezer to get the water cold and it was fine then. Overall, an excellent stay and lots of room for a family of 5 (2 adults + 2 kids + 1 dog). Highly recommend!

Lovely stay
We had a great experience staying here. Check-in was easy and Efrain was a prompt and polite host. We had an issue with the AC on our first night and he sent someone out to look at it and figure out the problem in 5 minutes, which we really appreciated. The bedrooms were spacious and there were huge closets to store our stuff. We stayed with two small children and there was plenty of space in one of the bedrooms for a pack and play. We did have to bring our own as there is not one in the house. The kids liked the small backyard area and picnic table. We loved the short drive to the zoo (it would be easily walkable too). The neighborhood was nice and we liked having lots of restaurants nearby. It was nice having a garage to park our car. The complementary drinks and snacks were also much appreciated when we arrived. If I had one criticism it would be that the kitchen wasn't super well stocked. There was no baking sheet and not a lot of basic things like oil or pepper. However, altogether we had a great stay. I would definitely recommend staying here!

This Vrbo was just as listed. The place was spacious and perfect for my husband, toddler and dog to stay. The location is right by the zoo which was very convenient for us. The host messaged us regularly to make sure we were ok and had everything we needed. I definitely recommend this place.
