Exactly what we needed
This is a beautiful house with the perfect little yard for the dog to get some exercise. Perfect for the family to stay for our sons graduation at Ft Sam Houston for a couple of days and not have to worry about room for us all.

The place is very clean and well renovated and spacious. It is about one block away from train tracks but other then that everything was great.

Charming Home
Perfect little house in an older neighborhood that is undergoing updates. It was clean and comfortable. The train is loud at night but we had noise machines and fans and didnt bother us at all. We will stay again!

Great stay!
The house was exactly as described and very well stocked. We had a great stay! The only thing to note, in case you are a light sleeper, is the train does come through late at night/early in the morning. They did provide earplugs, so for us it wasn't a big deal.

Great get-away
This property was super clean with all updated appliances. The hosts were easily reachable and super accommodating. The area is so close to all of the downtown attractions. This was a family with all girls and we felt very safe. People around the neighborhood were very friendly! We will def stay again!

Nice place, terrible neighborhood, train whistle every 2 hours
The house is nice on the inside, the neighborhood looks like it is improving, but is not there yet. The proximity to the train yard will allow you to experience talking through the night since the provided earplugs will be insufficient. If you can sleep through anything, have good insurance on your vehicle, and don’t mind a little excitement as the motion lights come on throughout the night, it’s OK. But, really the inside was as the pictures showed.

So convenient to the Alamo and Riverwalk!
The house was clean and stocked with essentials. Previous reviews mentioned the sketchy neighborhood, and it's true, it's a humble little neighborhood, but the neighbors we encountered were older and friendly and there's a few houses around that are being updated or have been updates already- seems like a neighborhood that's getting a second chance. The train is loud, but my whole crew slept right through it- I did not, but I also did not use the ear plugs provided because I have little ones I wanted to be able to hear if they needed me. The proximity to the Alamo and Riverwalk made everything worth while. We were just minutes away and could head back to the house for a meal or nap or whatever whenever we needed. Overall, we're happy with the rental and thankful to have not had a long drive into the city for the attractions we were after.

Good house but, no rest or sleep to be had.
The house is as nice as the photos depict it to be. However, the surrounding neighborhood leaves much to be desired. First of all, it’s a stones throw from a busy set of train tracks. The neighbor has a loud pit bull that barks at each train that comes by. The owner does provide ear plugs…that should have been our first clue. We left the property for another location after 18 hours. It is an older neighborhood near downtown and all the elements that come along with that. I advise planning your arrival during daylight. We requested a partial refund but were denied any kind refund even though we stayed for 1/7th of our time. We would have been grateful for 50% back but, the owner held to VRBO policies and therefore felt no obligation to refund any part of our money even there house sat vacant for the better part of 6 days.

Overall, it was just ok
The property was very clean and well-taken care of w a great yard for the dogs. There were just a few issues. First of all, when arriving at night, the street is very dark. There are no lights on the street at all. The house itself was well lit but it was difficult to see the house number to be sure it was the right house. Second, it did have certain necessities such as coffee but neither tub or shower even had soap or body wash. That's something that every hotel & most rental properties have so we had to make a run to the grocery store befroe we could even shower. There was coffee but no cream or sugar. Most importantly, the 2 nights we were there it was very cold. The heater could not keep the house warm. On the 1st night, we had to sleep fully dressed & couldn’t find an extra blanket for the bed. In the morning, the thermostat said it was 64. There seemed to be little or no insulation as you could feel the cold air coming in around the windows. I would bet it is similarly hot in the summer and very hard to keep cool. It seems like they spent a lot of money making the house look good -- and it does look very good -- but didn't spend the money on things like insulation so we ended up with a very cold night. Finally, the neighborhood is loud: neighbors, the train a block away, & the electrical transformer right out back all made it hard to sleep. The owners do supply earplugs but they weren't enough. It's a nice enough place but not 1 I'll return to.

Lovely home

We came down for a 5v5 soccer tournament. Neighborhood isn’t fancy for sure, but we traveled with dogs as well and the owner was great at meeting our needs! We were happy with our stay!

Be prepared for train noise
The property was very nice indoors and good yard. Good beds. Thank goodness ear plugs were provided as trains went by several times during night blaring. Shower was awesome, bathroom well stocked. Really lovely stay except the noise and that did not tarnish enjoyment overall because price wise was good. Note to owners: one thing you might add to kitchen: pizza cutter. and thanks for replacing remote so quickly!
