I recently stayed at a hotel I had enjoyed before due to its affordable rates and pet-friendly policy. Prior to my trip, I called to check the pet fees. A staff member informed me it was $10 per day per dog, which I found reasonable, especially since I always keep my three small dogs with me. They’re well-behaved and weigh about the same as a single medium dog.
However, when I arrived at the hotel, I was informed that the management had changed, and the pet fee had increased to $25 per dog per day. This was much higher than what I’d been told on the phone and nearly three times the original cost. I explained my earlier call and the price I was quoted, but the desk staff wasn’t able to offer any flexibility or assistance with the new fees.
During my previous stays, the hotel had been a great budget-friendly option for me, with clean beds and a comfortable environment. The $10 per day pet fee was manageable, even with my three small dogs, and I appreciated the hotel’s pet-friendly approach. But with the new rate, it’s become too costly for me to continue staying here.
While I understand that pet fees help ensure all pets and rooms are well-cared for, I hope management might consider offering a fairer policy for responsible pet owners traveling with smaller pets.
