Built in the 60's in a sought after lower part of Salobrena's old town, among Spanish neighbours, the house is unusually spacious for its location, bright and with good proportions, approximately 75 sqm. The property benefits from being a 10 minute walk (600 metres) to the sea front and a 5 minute walk to the town centre where you will find a local market, large supermarkets, banks and shops. The property is situated in a particularly quiet cul-de-sac with no traffic noise. There is car access to the front door at street level.
Everything is included so you can relax: kitchen utensils, high-speed WiFi, bed linen, towels, a welcome pack of food and, of course, impeccable cleaning.
The house is arranged over two floors and two sets of stairs, conveniently separating the living and sleeping areas.
On the ground floor, the staircase leads to a large open plan kitchen, living room and terrace. The terrace faces south-east and receives sunlight from morning until well into the afternoon, providing shelter from the local winds and a mild & pleasant temperature inside the property all year round! White laminate floors, original stone walls, a large corner sofa, vintage table and lamps, air conditioning/heating, mood lighting, books, WiFi, a 65' SmartTV... even an original school blackboard!
Downstairs there are two comfortable air-conditioned bedrooms overlooking a quiet pedestrian street, a metro tiled bathroom with an extra large shower and a toilet. If you are staying with young children, safety gates can easily be fitted to the stairs. With a queen size bed (150cm) and two single beds (90cm), the house can sleep up to a maximum of 4 people. We also have a baby cot.
A car is not essential but is recommended for those wishing to explore nearby towns and beaches. Parking is generally available at the end of the street and on the parallel road, Ladera de La Cruz. Parking can take longer during the summer months, Easter and Christmas. A bus (number 2) runs from the modern part of Salobrena through the old town, past Al Salam and up to the castle.
As a Spaniard who spends most of my time in London, Salobrena has everything I look for when I return to my country: authenticity, great weather & beautiful surroundings. In 2005 I decided to look for a townhouse with potential until I found this one. I am now enjoying decorating it to make it a comfortable, safe, spacious and stylish holiday home. The last major upgrade was done in April 2019, when I installed a wooden floor in the living room, but I'm always making small improvements.
You guessed it - this is neither a beach apartment nor a villa with a swimming pool, but rather a charming townhouse where you can feel part of the city life, a privileged base from which to explore the Costa Tropical, a quiet place to work from, a safe place to retreat to after a day out.
