Satisfactory stay and review .
Overall my stay with you was very satisfactory except for the cooked breakfast. Both mornings the cooked breakfasts were very poor . My bedroom with en-suite was excellent . Your staff were excellent especially Maddy .

It is a lovely place to stay, plenty of beautiful places to walk. The staff were very friendly and the room has high quality fixtures and fittings. Little touches like a glass bottle of water, lovely fresh milk for tea/coffee in the room, coffee bags and home made biscuits were much appreciated as were the good quality toiletries. Great choices for breakfast served to you, not a buffet.

Business trip overnight stay
Lovely country village pub with exceptionally welcoming staff. Even on one of the hottest days of the year and in an upstairs room. The windows had been left open and a large fan was on to ensure a good nights sleep. Room was immaculate and very large. An excellent nights stay whilst travelling for business. Food was fantastic and even had a draught gluten free lager available for me as well as bottles. Thoroughly recommend and would definitely use again.

Faultless. We stayed overnight on 27th Dec 2023 in a beautifully appointed room with huge, comfortable beds and toasty duvets. Gleaming bathroom and plenty of pillows and towels. The welcome was warm and genuine. We felt like nothing was too much trouble and very much made to feel at home. Terrific Rude Giant ale on tap. I was lucky enough to have the festive brew which was a perfect pint of best bitter. The breakfast was perfect and again, we were given a cheery welcome and attended to expertly. Nice, low level music in the morning and a gentle bustle of activity behind the bar. Special mention to Will from Stockport who undoubtedly has a gift for hospitality. A team effort, of course, but he was front of house during our stay and did a sterling job.

Fantastic meal
Stayed just one night. Good sized bedroom which was basic but acceptable. Friendly staff. Breakfast good and had evening meal which was superb. Dining room packed as local History Festival Week on at the time. Would definitely stay there again if we were in the area.

Great food
We stayed in this hotel to explore the Salisbury area. We were drawn by the combination of being a pub and a restaurant and we were not disappointed. The quality of the food, combined with a comfortable room and a rural environment was excellent and we had a really good weekend.

Great niche hotel for couples
If you ever wanted to know what it would be like to live above a pub, this hotel is for you. It was a very pleasant stay, and the staff went out of their way to make it a pleasant. The room was en suite and comfortable. While the Pub is lively, it was not too noisy to prevent restful sleep. With the Continental Breakfast thrown in, this hotel was a real value.

A perfect hidden get away
I cannot recommend the hotel or the staff highly enough. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome, our room was immaculate, beautifully clean and very well equipped and decorated. The menu was very comprehensive and the prices were more than reasonable. The food was impeccably cooked and the service although attentive was not over the top. For me a good nights sleep is essential and usually when I stay in a new place I find it very difficult to sleep, not this time, the bed was very comfortable and the hotel was quiet so sleeping was easy.... the hard part was getting out of such a comfortable bed in the morning. If there was a downside to our stay...if...it was that mobile reception is non existent in or around the hotel which is great if you want to get away from it all but not so if you want to stay in touch. Also the water pressure in the shower could have been stronger. Overall though I cannot fault this hotel or the staff, the negatives are so outweighed by the positives that they shouldn't even be taken into account. I will definitely be staying here again, not just on business but next year I intend to bring my two children to the area for a visit and there is nowhere else I would choose to stay.

A Little Gem in the country
We loved the location out in the countryside, a visual treat, the rooms were nicely decorated, spotless and very warm and cosy. the rooms themselves are not part of the pub but an annex outside which was great as very peaceful (there is no wifi in the rooms, only in the pub). All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the pub itself had a lovely feel to it. The full English breakfast was big a hearty and filled us up for the day. We met the owner who couldn't have been more helpful with advice on surrounding areas to visit. We really enjoyed our stay here and would go back.

Charming inn/pub
The room we had was very basic and located behind the main pub/inn. It was very basic but adequate and clean. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. We arrived quite late, and they made us sandwiches and salads. The English breakfast is a real benefit. The pub itself is quite charming.

Great spot but fell short of its potential
We had been up to the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show from Exeter and fancied breaking the return journey around Salisbury with the intention of also attending a Sunday service at the cathedral. From that point of view The Queens Head looked ideal and overall we had a really enjoyable break, but we do a lot of overnights across the UK and were disappointed with this one. Noise: Shouting and laughing from 4 young people in the outside covered area and we had to get up to ask them to quieten down, but still very audible until they left around 23:30! The pub needs to supervise that. Dinner: Lacked cullinary care and attention to detail - vegetables were way over-cooked, textureless and tasteless, Côtes du Rhône was just proprietory stuff and didn't have any of the AOC's characteristics - the meal was generally overpriced for what it was. Getting simple, traditional pub meals right and a offering proper, affordable wines these days is not difficult and absolutely essential. However service was good and the ambience was fine. Breakfast was well cooked and okay but choice of just cash&carry cereal boxes was mean. The place had the distinct feel of a 'managed pub' and not of a country break, which we suspected was an 'owners' issue. We're used to better value for money. Shame.
