We decided to stay in Salerno as a base for exploring Pompeii, Paestum and the Amalfi coast. The apartment was in a great location - though more urban than the photo on the left suggests - just on the outskirts of the old part of town. We were able to park easily near the apartment and found restaurants and bars to eat in nearby. Several of the grocery stores nearby that we noted on Google were gone - I guess the supermarket has driven them out of business.
The apartment was bright, very clean and nicely furnished. There is one bedroom with a queen or king bed and fold-out bunk beds, and there is a fold-out couch in the living room. So, although the place sleeps 6 or 7 there is really only one bedroom. There are two baths though, one with a shower.
The host Guiseppe and his son Fernando arranged to meet us at the apartment to give us the keys. They had gotten groceries enough for breakfasts - milk, packaged bread and pastries, jam, as well as bottled water. They were very nice, tho Guiseppe and his wife (who we met on Thursday) spoke little English, Fernando translated for us.
