"Nice older hotel, but all modern features in room, in excellent location. About a 10 minute walk to amazing fortress/castle and same to the old part of town. Hotel had a small store attached, where you can buy great wine at an excellent price. They also had a great selection of cheeses and bread, plus other nice foods/snacks. "The hotel is inside the walled city, right next to the basilica. As no car is allowed to drive to the castle, the hotel offers a free shuttle to pick/drop you to the parking lot where you get in/off the taxi. The hotel has a lot of history but the condition itself needs some maintenance. The view from the hotel is unbeatable and the staff are super friendly. Overall is a very nice stay. Remember to book a taxi before arrival "

"We had an excellent 1 night stay at Sowell Le Chevaliers. The staff was very patient during our check in. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Carcassonne. The room was clean and nicely appointed with a walkout spacious terrace. We wish we could have stayed another night. The view we had of the walled city and overlooking the river (with bird activity) was a treat."

"We paid for breakfast and it was terrible, as we went into breakfast room it was divided and walking up to table to get some cold hams and orange juice we were told we had to eat in other part of dining area where there was just bread and waffles and drinks. Everyone was sneaking through to get a yogurt or fresh juice the satff in breakfast area were very rude!! Never stay there look for something don’t always settle for the cheapest it’s not worth it , everyone who was English were complaining...

"From the initial enquiry, communication with the owners was excellent. Anne and Frédéric are excellent hosts, very helpful without being intrusive. The accommodation cannot be faulted. Clean, very well equipped and very spacious. Small but well stocked supermarket within 5 minutes. Larger Carrefour and E Leclerc hypermarkets within 20 minutes. Pleasant 3 mile walk through vineyards and around a lake straight from the Gite with more demanding and walks and hikes within driving distance....
