Croix Petite : Keeps Getting Better!
We're repeat visitors! Loved the house in 2022 and we decided to do it again. The owners have updated the decor and added new appliances, which made our recent stay even better than our first. And the location is ideal for exploring the Dorgogne region.

A rural idyll
We had a great stay at La Croix Petite to get the family all together to celebrate Steve’s upcoming 70th birthday! We love the Dordogne, having spent many holidays in the area before but the location was perfect for river activities, markets, chateaux and castles. The house, gardens and pool are fantastic and a quick easy drive for essentials and pleasure activities. The kitchen is so well equipped and our family bbq using both gas and charcoal bbqs was a great success. La Croix Petite really was perfect for what we wanted - watching the hot air balloons coming across the bottom of the valley was an added bonus. Little did we know that we’d be having a flight too later in our stay! Thanks David, and also to Toni and Mark who looked after us so well - brilliant people to have around! Local knowledge like where to get a Guinness or to watch rugby union was very welcome!

An excellent stay. The house was very nice. Extremely spacious and a lovely quiet location. Pool was great to swim and sit by. Terrace outside the house is also a nice place to sit and relax. Host was very helpful and immediately and efficiently dealt with an issue that arose at the house during our stay. Would very much recommend the property and we hope to be back sometime.

Relaxing stay in wonderful old farmhouse.
We (8 adults) were very comfortable in this characterful and very well-equipped home. The house is secluded with delightful views, has a great terrace for relaxed meals, a good-sized pool with plenty of sun loungers. Sleeping and bathroom arrangements worked very well - plenty of room for all, and the massive kitchen and lounge accommodated us all very comfortably. Lots of games provided for inside and outdoors. Excellent communication from the host prior to arrival, plus a generous arrival hamper and courtesy contact during our stay. Well located for visits to bastide towns, canoeing, wine-tasting, etc.. We loved it.

A lovely house in a great location
A huge old farmhouse which has been modernised and made very comfortable. It's quiet and secluded, but within walking distance of a boulangerie and a few km drive from excellent supermarkets in Sarlat. The house, especially the kitchen, is equipped with everything you could need and there are there are lots of games and books. The spring weather in the Dordogne has been dreadful this year and our week at the end of May was surprisingly cold but the pool was inviting and warm enough for the younger members of our party to swim. There is so much to do in the area - caves, velotrain, zipwires, chateaux, gardens, canoes, etc etc - something for all ages. We would love to go back!

Good house near Sarlat
Four of us stayed in this home (2 couples) and the two "wings" gave us nice privacy with the roomy modern kitchen in the middle. Really enjoyed the sparkling clean pool and two outside eating areas (offering shade or sun). Well appointed with coffee makers, market bags, loads of kitchen and dishware, an extra refrigerator (very handy!), and a smart TV in the Lounge area. Owner very responsive to questions and queries! Note that it is a bit of a remote location, about 3 miles outside Sarlat (you could not walk there - definitely need a car.)

Beautiful Home in the Country
The home has an authentic feel and experience. The kitchen was big and well equipped. The beds were comfortable and it was great to have 4 bedrooms and bathrooms. That is rare in this area. The living room was great and first time we've had comfortable furniture in France! We loved the location however the house is very difficult to find and to get in and out of the driveway onto the D25. The shrubbery needs to be cut back, to enjoy the view of the hot air balloons, launching every morning and afternoon. We loved eating outdoors together and the table and chairs were great and comfortable. Curtains on the windows or screens would be nice since we had issues when it was hot with large insects coming in the bedrooms at night. The bathrooms needed a good scrubbing initially. The pool was not heated at all. David, the owner, was very helpful when issues arose. The property manager never responded to my text or phone message.

Brilliant time at Croix Petite
We visited from N England and had a brilliant time at Croix Petite. Everything was as expected with no unpleasant surprises. The house is in a great position, facing south, with views over a valley. It’s very well maintained with fantastic gardens and loads of space for the kids in the woods and a big field below the house. The pool had just been renovated and was brand new when we arrived, larger than most holiday houses and super clean. It’s all very tranquil, and about 5-10mins drive from Sarlat so if you’re looking for party central nightlife it’s probably not ideal! We’re looking forward to returning.

Delightful stay at this location
All our family from Amsterdam and London met here for a wonderful week together. The facilities were as described with clear instructions on use and what was expected on departure. David the owner, was always extremely helpful with any questions and responded quickly. No negatives other than it could have been clearer on the website that additional charges were made for linen, which would be necessary for most U.K. visitors. Many thanks for proving a great villa for our family holiday.

Absolutely amazing
The property was truly wonderful. We were a group of 8 adults, 2 children and a baby of 15 months. We could not fault this property, everything imacculatley presented. So much room for everyone and Everything so spotlessly clean. The kitchen was truly amazing with Everything you could possibly need, dishes etc. of all shapes and sizes. We made such good use of everything, including the pool. A truly beautiful place and would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone. The area of Sarlat is just so beautiful and retains its natural charm. A highly recommended property and would return again.

Great facilities, very comfortable would visit again
Our family enjoyed a super week at Croix, the pool pump did fail which turned the water green but the owner David responded brilliantly his caretaker sorted the issue and the pump was replaced. This did not spoil our enjoyment and it was reassuring to receive such good service. The house is well equipped and we barbecued every night, plenty of all that you need to keep the food and drink flowing. The utility room has a super size washing machine and dryer which came in handy. Only point we could make is the the garden looked like it needed a little attention to bring to its best. Overall a great time had.

A Gem In Gorgeous Setting
We arrived much later than planned due to transport issues and let ourselves in via the key safe. Walking through the house our travel stresses melted away. Everything was fresh, clean and beautifully prepared. The housekeeper arrived the next day to check everything was ok, and provided some local tips. He was available throughout our stay, but we didn't need him. Our party of 9 (4 kids, 5 adults), all had an amazing time. There's tons of space for the kids to roam safely and the garden was very mature with some beautiful planting. The woods were perfect for hide and seek. Inside the kids took over the games room leaving the adults in peace to read/chill in the ginormous lounge. The kitchen was great for cooking, and could easily have accommodated more of us. We cannot recommend the location highly enough. We were beside all the gems but our best times were at the house. We'll be back!

Amazing property, in a beautiful location
I'd spent many days researching property for this trip, and finally chose David's home in Croix Petite, just 3-4mi from the medieval town of Sarlat-la-Canéda. The house is approached via a small unmade road. This offers separate parking for each of the two wings of the property. The house itself is beautiful. Very tastefully furnished, it maintains a french farmhouse feel whilst having all the modern technologies anyone could require. The kitchen acts as the hub between the two wings. It's fully loaded with high end appliances, and all the equipment you need to make the place your home for the duration of the stay. French doors open out onto the patio area which runs the length of the house. Covered seating, and the BBQ can be found here, and offer spectacular views across the valley. Very special in the cooler early mornings as the mist rests between the valley, and the hills. A small gravel, stepped path leads off the patio, and down to the pool deck. The pool itself was stunning. As a competitive swimmer the pool was large enough to have a proper swim which I was very happy with. The family loved it, and the poolside cabin was perfect for kicking back, and taking shelter from the mid-afternoon sun. Again the views from the pool area down the valley towards the walnut grove were lovely, and very private. Back into the house it has a fully stocked games room, with football table, plenty of toys, and lots of local guidebooks, maps to make your adventures easier. Into the huge lounge which comfortably entertained all 8 of us, and still had room for a few more. The smart television was a real hit with the children being able to stream youtube clips - they certainly didn't get bored. It was also great to be able to stream clips of places we were planning to visit so we could see them in advance. Up into the bedrooms, and they were all lovely. The master suite with the balcony was amazing, with a huge en-suite with separate shower, bath, his/hers sinks. Tons of wardrobe space. The second bedroom in the east wing is more compact, with separate (private) bathroom along the corridor. The west wing had a double, and twin rooms, with separate sofa bed. All in all a beautiful place to stay. Perfectly located to explore the Dordogne! We would all stay here again in a heartbeat! The only thing to note: A few evenings it was rather warm so keeping all the shutters closed during the day, and then opening at night certainly helped cool it slightly

Large beautiful house and grounds in the amazing Dordogne
We had the best stay in this huge, beautiful house. I've pulled together comments and feedback from our group: - amazing place to stay - huge excellent well-equipped kitchen - rooms and communal areas really good with wifi throughout and TV - gorgeous pool overlooking grounds - lots of space/land part of the house for walking the dog! - house remained cool in heat of the day (keep windows and doors closed) - master bedroom really comfy - great communication from both David (owner) and the agents managing the property, who met us on our first day and showed us around The whole group felt really in touch and the team were really friendly, available and helpful - even facilitating our earlier arrival. A really, really beautiful house big enough for your own space but set out perfectly for socialising and relaxing. The ping pong table was a hit with the kids (read: 2 highly-competitive male adults) and the facilities for the little 8 month old baby were great. As for the area - the Dordogne is fantastic - there's something for everyone and its staggering beauty is for everyone. We have been one of the first few people lucky enough to visit this house and I can reassure anyone considering it that it is a great rental for your holiday! 5* from us - couldn't have been happier!

Beautiful, authentic stone house in a tranquil setting with lots of comforts
We stayed in this charming old farmhouse following a friend’s recommendation. It’s slightly off the beaten track in a tranquil setting which meant we had the seclusion and privacy we craved, a 10/15 min drive away from the neighbouring village of St Cyprien in one direction (perfect for Sunday market). All other amenities, access routes and stores for our first-day supermarket stock-up were in Sarlat 10 minutes in the opposite direction. There is a boulangerie up the road so fresh bread and pastries every day for anyone sprightly enough to stroll up to get them first thing. The house itself is huge. There are four double bedrooms, three with an en suite and one with an additional bathroom not far away so we had more than enough space to accommodate us (we were seven adults and a small child) as well as various family members who popped in mid-week from Bordeaux and Bergerac and ended up sleeping over. The rooms were clean with new linen, fresh flowers and a simple yet rustic decor. There is a big, well-equipped kitchen for avid cooks (including a Nespresso coffee maker with supplies), a games room with a fuseball machine, lots of books, a fabulous living room area big enough for at least 10 people, and a huge open fireplace which added to the ambience. There was an outside seating/lounging area for meals on a fine day. A lovely feature was the swimming pool, down some steps from the main house with a stunning uninterrupted view into the countryside. We would definitely stay here again if/ when we are in the area.

A great stay!
What a great place! Croix Petite is a large house - we were a party of 8, but there was still a huge amount of space. It’s really two houses connected by a huge kitchen, so the kids in one side don’t wake the kids in the other side :) and there was plenty of room outside for them to play. The kitchen is huge and well equipped - perfect for communal cooking and eating indoors if the weather is too hot or wet for the tables on the terrace. There’s a games room with baby foot table next door to a huge lounge with 4 sofas. The local area is quiet which suited us, but not for those seeking the nightlife. You’ll need a car, but there is a boulangerie a few minutes walk away. Great views of the pool and valley from the verandah above the patio, which was our spot for breakfast. Sarlat is less than 10mins drive, away with the markets and sights. And the chateau at Beynac about the same. We tended to stay close to the pool and the patio. Highly recommended.

Magnifique endroit !
