"We were in town for a concert at the Center Theatre (two adults, two young kids) and this was a perfect place to stay! I loved being able to walk to the venue and to get dinner beforehand. With three bedrooms in the B&B, there was more than enough space and the beds were really comfortable. It was helpful to have a large kitchen and the living room was really cozy. My kids loved the free movies and chocolate chip cookies too!"

"In an age of "Live Laugh Love" vacation rentals -- every property a generic flip, done up in neutral tones and mass-manufactured message art -- it was so refreshing to enter the Cabin Skowhegan, where everything seemed like a real live person had put it there. The photos of local sites, sometimes captioned. The worn-in but sturdy and inviting furniture, arranged for comfort. The quirky mug collection, clearly someone's pride and joy, hanging around the dining area. Supplies and provisions exactly where you need them. This cabin is no frills but so lovingly appointed. I would definitely come back."

You're also probably saying to yourself "What a quaint little cabin in the heart of Stephen King country! I wonder if anything Stephen King-related would happen to me if I stayed there?" Dear reader, let me put your fears to rest: book the dang cabin!!! I went here on my first solo vacation and could not have had a better time. The pictures do not do it justice. I spent five nights scaring myself senseless by reading Edgar Allen Poe in the loft and it was delightful. The heater worked like a dream, the hot water stayed hot, the full kitchen allowed me to drink my bodyweight in soup and the place felt like home. The property manager even came by before I arrived to put the lights and the heat on. So nice! She was quick to answer questions and the place was so thoughtfully arranged. Ignore that two star review complaining about spiderwebs. It's a freakin cabin. If you don't like nature, stay in a Marriott. I'm not getting paid to write this, I genuinely had a great time. "
