The Boathouse Cottage is a beachfront family retreat just five minutes south along the shore from famous Old Orchard Beach and downtown attractions. It is situated near the quiet fishing village of Camp Ellis on Ferry Beach. The cottage is a spacious beachfront house with six bedrooms, three baths, and a two-sided wrap-around covered veranda and enclosed sun parlor providing an uninterrupted view of the entire Saco Bay and its several small islands.
Situated at the southern end of Saco Bay’s seven-mile beach, the cottage is unparalleled in its possibilities for fun and relaxation in a casual cottage atmosphere – spring, summer, or fall. Opportunities exist not just for summer swimming, sunbathing and terrific fishing, but also for Old Orchard Beach’s nearby beachfront amusement and family fun attractions. Beautiful oceanfront Ferry Beach State Park with its complex of nature, bicycle, and hiking trails is within brief walking distance just down the beach, and two nearby golf courses boast some of the best golfing in Maine.


At the Boathouse Cottage every effort has been made to provide convenience and comfort in a charming atmosphere for a relaxing and enjoyable seaside family vacation experience.

At the Boathouse Cottage, the six spacious bedrooms are newly decorated to provide a charming, casual, nautical cottage atmosphere for vacation living. The large living room, suitable for the whole household, has a color cable T.V., DVD and free WiFi. The wrap-around sun parlor is complete with a game table, assorted popular board and table games, a cozy daybed, overstuffed chairs and a panoramic oceanfront view. A separate dining room provides seating for the whole household. The fully equipped kitchen contains coordinated china service for twenty, all pots, pans and cooking utensils. It has a four burner gas stove with a large oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker with filters, hand mixer and dishwasher. Laundry facilities, located on the first floor, consist of a jumbo washer and dryer. There are three complete bathrooms with footed tub, shower, and tub and shower.

The oceanfront picnic area adjacent to the veranda includes picnic tables, a gas grill, wood fire pit and all necessary BBQ grilling utensils. The charming oceanfront veranda has relaxing, cushioned wicker patio furniture. You’ll enjoy a refreshing, sunny outdoor rinse or shower and shampoo when returning from swimming, fishing or sunbathing on the beach in the outdoor shower.

We had a wonderful time! The surrounding area has certainly been hit by some big storms lately so the neighborhood is somewhat under construction but the house was very clean and in great shape. Paul is a very kind and responsive host.

Beautiful Retreat
I took a trip with my school organization officer team. The team consisted of 7 teenage girls and two adult chaperones. We all had plenty of space and enjoyed every part of this beautiful property. I highly recommend this stay for families or friends wanting a picture perfect getaway.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Boathouse Cottage. Paul was easy to work with through the check-in and check-out process. Our family truly enjoyed this oceanfront property this year! The entire home was very clean, and there were ample bedrooms and bathrooms for our crowd of family, from age 3yrs to 91 yrs! We had 4 generations on this vacation. The host was attentive to the few questions/comments we had, but certainly not intrusive on our vacation. We have rented many different homes, but this one was by far, our favorite. We appreciated the wagon to carry our things to the beach.

The Boathouse Cottage more than lives up to its promise of being a beachfront family retreat. The house is well maintained and lovingly cared for. My brother and I spent three nights there to celebrate his birthday. The early May weather could not have been more cooperative. Indoors and out, everything needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay was provided. Communication with Paul, the owner/host, was outstanding. He provided detailed and helpful instructions prior to our arrival and was available by phone and very understanding when I had to contact him to report a mishap during our brief stay. I look forward to returning again.

Perfect Location and views!
You can’t go wrong with this location. Quick walk to 2 beaches, restaurants, fishing piers, and 3 miles to OOB. The neighborhood is quiet and great for walking and riding bikes with kids. The views from the home and especially the porch are breathtaking. Staring straight at the ocean 24/7. Love the fire pit and seating outside to watch the sun rise and set. The house description and photos are accuract. You won’t be disappointed!!

The must get away stay
We are three families that vacation once a year together . Because of corona our plans were changed . We took a few days and went to Maine. This house was very accommodating. Paul (the owner) was great to deal with. The house sits on a quiet road with the ocean right in front Of you. The beach is just a short walk from the house . I will be returning in the spring and again in the fall. Thanks for a great stay

This beach house is amazing. Located directly on the water with breathtaking views, it is a beautiful house and exactly as described. There are plenty of dishes, towels and blankets, as well as games and toys for the kids. It was spotlessly clean on our arrival and provided everything we could need. Our family of nine had plenty of room. The neighborhood is lovely and great for walking. We even had a plumbing issue and Paul responded immediately, showing up to fix it himself. There is so much to see and do in the area and the Boathouse is only a 20 minute drive from Portland airport. If I could give it more than five stars, I would. Would recommend the Boathouse to everyone. Will definitely come back.

Family Reunion
Coming from Texas were temperatures were 110°, we were thrilled to be beach side in Maine. We had 4 adults and 3 kiddos under 10 with plenty of room to spare. One thing that we didn’t realize is, there was no air conditioning here, which I’m sure is needed in frequently. A couple of nights did get fairly warm, but plenty of box fans were provided the home was very clean with plenty of amenities. We were able to entertain family here for a couple of the days we were here and it was perfect. If I might make one suggestion. It was late when we arrived the first night and having the linens already prepared on the beds would’ve been helpful. We would highly recommend this location and may seek it out again for next year.

Wonderful house overlooking the ocean
Wonderful property overlooking the ocean! Plenty of room for our family of 9 adults and 3 children. 3 Bathrooms were handy to have. No one did use the claw foot tub upstairs. Plenty of fans, did have a fairly cool week with cloudy days. Kitchen had everything we needed, maybe could have used a griddle for our pancake breakfast! Was great to have a washer and dryer, and was nice that there were sheets and towels provided so was one less thing to bring from home. The very best thing was the porch, view from the porch, swings to use in the yard, big tables so our family had suppers out on the patio every evening! And the beach cart to take our things to the beach! The only downside was the distance to the beach, which was only an easy 5 minutes. Nice side streets walkable to the harbor, general store, and a place to get lobsters cooked! Thank you Paul, answered any questions we had, responded very quickly, we had a wonderful week at your house!

65th Wedding Anniversary Celebration
What an incredible property! The views are amazing; what beautiful sunrises! Everything is immaculate. Plenty of room for our extended family of 8 to celebrate our parents' 65th wedding anniversary. My favorite party of the house is the sunporch, which we were able to enjoy even in the cooler weather. Paul is very responsive & quickly answered all of my questions.
