Owlers Cottage in Camber Sands takes its name from the smugglers who plied their trade on the surrounding marsh and nearby medieval town of Rye, "the (former) smuggling capital of England." Unluckily for the smugglers, there were no modern, exquisitely outfitted beach cottages like this one in the 18th century!

Smugly enjoy 21st century experiences like sitting on the sunny decked patio while sipping espressos from the kitchen's Nespresso machine, or cosy evenings around a contemporary electric fireplace and 40" flat screen TV in the lounge. This magazine worthy cottage also features two plush bedrooms in coastal colours and a shared bath.

Speaking of coastal colours: walk a few minutes to the dunes of Camber Sands and take a dip in the shallow, sparkling waters. Adventurers can kite-surf or windsurf, and your four-legged friends can have their own adventure exploring the dunes. Like many of the cottages at Beside the Sea, Owlers Cottage is pet-friendly!

After a day at the beach, drive 10 minutes to the medieval town of Rye with its quaint cobbled streets, gastro-pubs and antique shops. Smuggle home a local wine to enjoy with freshly caught scallops.

Dining & Lounging

At Owlers Cottage, the lower floor comprises a fab, open-plan lounge and kitchen/dining area, with the bedrooms and shared bath upstairs—an excellent layout if your group has night owls who want to stay up and chat.

Take a break from Camber activities and curl up on the comfy sofa and snuggle seat while you watch Sky Now on the 40” Smart HDTV. The fireplace perfectly complements drizzly days and brisk evenings on the shore. With high-speed WiFi, you can check in with friends or ask Alexa to play your favourite holiday tunes.

The fully equipped kitchen is modern and bright, with contemporary appliances like an oven with 4-ring ceramic hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. Pop a bottle of fizz and dine al fresco at the 4-person patio table and let kids and pups go free in this fully enclosed outdoor space.

An indoor gate leg table for four provides another spot to dine and doubles as a laptop workspace, if you must.

Bed & Bath

Guest Bedroom 1—First floor: Sleep in style in the master bedroom on a double bed as comfy as a cloud, complete with luxury linen. You'll also find your own 32” smart HDTV with Sky Now and Netflix for those cosy nights in. Need help getting up to watch the sunrise? then just ask Alexa to wake you.

Guest Bedroom 2—First floor: The second bedroom's two single beds have linen so comfortable you'll want to stay in bed a little longer.

The shared upstairs bathroom has a bath with shower over and glass shower screen that keeps the room bright and sunny, yet entirely private. Downstairs, an extra WC means there won't be a wait.

Outdoors

The fully enclosed garden gets the best of Camber's sunshine all day. Dine al fresco in the fresh sea air surrounded by olive trees and the sound of seagulls calling and sheep baaing from the marsh behind Owlers Cottage.

Swimsuit bit too sandy after your beach day? Head to the utility room with a full-size washer and dryer. You will also find dog bowls here to keep your furry friend fed.
