Comfortable well designed house in a good position
The house is very comfortable. It's modern but yet has a cosy cottage feel to it. It's also very well designed with good living space and essential holiday home rooms such as separated porch for muddy boots and wet coats, and a separate utility room for much the same or hiding away drying washing. It's well situated on the Rye side of Camber. We'd never been to Camber before. The other end of town is quite run down and there is a massive eye sore that is Pontins. That said; it didn't bother us one bit as at our end of town you could walk only a couple of minutes to the Gallivant hotel and restaurant. We had a meal in there and it was delicious. Great local sparkling wine list and the food was fantastic. Booking is essential - I imagine it's near impossible to get in during the summer... Also very close is the beach - it's a great beach as well. Rye is great and a 6-7 minute drive. We actually walked to and from as well - day time and night. It's just under an hour walk and there is a good path and cycle way to get there - bikes would be good in the summer. Rye is a great place and we'll definitely go back. One major set back was the wifi at the property. It was advertised with Netflix...which is true. But the wifi connection was so slow that we couldn't even stream the credits of a film! As we stayed in winter and we love film, relaxing to a good movie was something that we were looking forward to. If you want to use devices like iPads or something, forget it! The wifi is dial up speed! Overall it was a great property and well looked after - local goodies were left out for us by the owners which was a nice touch.

Marsh Cottage Is Wonderful
Very clean & comfortable with birds singing and sheep calling to each other. Enjoyed my relaxed stay. A little expensive, but thought I was worth it. ;-D

Beautifully well kept seaside property
Camber is a beautiful place to visit; rain or shine, beach or seaside. Mallow Cottage caters for your needs whatever your preferences, situated only a five minute walk from camber sands beach or an equally short drive to the cobbled streets in the town of Rye. The house itself is clean, comfortable and easy to settle into for a long weekend getaway to the Great British coast. Thank you for a brilliant stay, I would recommend and visit again!

Lovely little cottage near an amazing beach
This little cottage was perfect for our family of 4. It was well located, a short walk from Camber Sands beach and tucked away in a little corner of the development with fabulous views out over the plains to the madjestic windmills. The cottage itself was beautifully decorated in beachy tones, modern, comfy, and well equipped - I especially appreciated the coffee machine and the little basket of goodies - some locally made - were a huge hit too. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Very comfortable cottage in a fantastic location
Mallow Cottage is very warm and welcoming even during a cold January weekend. Well equipped, clean and located close to the sea, with views over the marsh. Lovely!

Gorgeous welcoming cottage, clean, spacious and perfect location
Very lovely cottage with fantastic views and easy access to beach and places to eat. Fairly well equipped in the kitchen and great to have washing machine, although would've like an iron and ironing board. Also a DVD player would be handy if visiting in the winter months. But overall very pleased and would book again.

lovely cottage near beach with great view
We had a great stay at Mallow Cottage. It was clean, stylishly-furnished and very comfortable, and the welcome basket was a bonus (the cake and prosecco didn't last long!). The beach is a few minutes walk away and although a central section is dog-free in summer there's a huge area of beach and dunes to romp along - our dog loved our early morning walks. The cottage helpfully provided ordnance survey maps of the area along with loads of other info and we can recommend the Camber Castle walk from Rye station and a visit to the wildlife reserve. We enjoyed cycling through the eerie landscape of Dungeness and pottering around Rye, Winchelsea and Hastings, where the art gallery is well worth a visit. For an evening out we had an excellent meal at the Landgate Bistro in Rye before strolling up the hill to the excellent Kino Cinema to take in a movie. Within walking distance, the food at The Owl restaurant was very tasty and we treated ourselves to a great breakfast at The Galllivant. What made the cottage stand out for us was the attractive little garden with a marshland view teeming with wildlife - a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine on a summer's evening! The management team of Richard and Sophie were very helpful and I would definitely recommend Mallow Cottage.

Dissapointing
We have used Owners Direct for the past 2 years and found everything to be as described, so we were confident (especially with the posted reviews) that this would be no different. While the accomodation does at the rear have the uninterupted views over the marsh, is only a five minute walk to the beach, has white stuff hand soap, a coffee machine, wi-fi netflicks, the welcome pack etc, it doesn't come close to describing that it is in the middle of an estate that is a nightmare to get on to and off of in the summer due to day tripers using the estate for free parking, it also doesn't tell you of it's close proximity to Pontins, which has it's trucks out early each morning persumably cleaning up from the night before, you can view the Pontins accomodation as you enter the front of the property, but for me it was the lack of cleaning that was the most important error, no amount of nice extra's can make up for mugs and plates that still had the remains of someone elses drink and food, a worksurface that had remains of food on it, a bedroom that clealy had not been vacumed as there was a used glass on the floor under the bed and plastic wrapping under the chest of drawers( I did leave it there). Someones clothes in the chest of drawets, surely these things should be checked and undertaken by the people the owner clearly trusts to do on their behalf. There are cobwebs in corners and dust that has been there sometime on tops of pictures, the house smelt stale when we arrived. Lastly the front garden is really overgorwn to the point that you cannot get to the door without catching on the foilage/weeds.

Delightful house in a lovely location, minutes from the beach.
Everything was perfect, on arrival there was a little box of luxuries including a bottle of Prosecco and some local goodies and a welcome card. The location is great with off road parking outside the front door, the house was immaculate. Nice sitting room with open access to the kitchen, fantastic view from the rear garden over the fields to the gently moving blades of the wind farm and the field was full of little lambs running about. Hot water is on a combi-boiler so on demand, and a nice shower/bath upstairs and an additional toilet downstairs. We used the double bedroom and the single would have been great for the kids, fortunately they've grown up and didn't want to join us! Nice decking area in the compact rear garden and thoughtfully provided is a fire pit and a barbecue, we didn't use either as we were out and about and by the time we got back we just settled into the sitting room and browsed the Netflix menu, also provided free of charge. In the rear garden which is decking and shingle, the fence can be 6 feet high so if you have a dog that is part kangaroo you can fold up the fence to keep them in, never seen that before but great idea! To get to the beach is around a 5 minute walk and our dog was in heaven as she believes everything that isn't a person is a squirrel and therefore should be chased and this includes seagulls, much to our amusement. We discussed how Richard and Sophie the owners could make this property better and the answer is they couldn't, it's absolutely perfect, it's spotless, comfortable, fresh, nice and just like a home from home should be. We had a fantastic stay and will be going back after the summer. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in Camber Sands, I would thoroughly recommend this one. Thanks again John & Janice and Cleo the dog!
