"From the moment we pulled up, when the owner met us personally late at night on the front porch, we knew this place was something special. The owner took us on a tour and explained how this land went back many generations for his family and he pointed out many nods at his past relatives - like the buck that his great grandfather and great grandmother got on a hunt many moons ago. The cabin is "Scandinavian" style and very open, with a windowed view of the water, which is barely 30 feet out the back door. There's a cushioned nook against the window where my wife and I savored cups of coffee and books in the morning. The kitchen has a large island where our family enjoyed together time for breakfast and after long days, laughing and swapping stories.We also loved the serene and peaceful surroundings. One evening, my wife and I sipped a glass of wine on the picnic bench by the water as a beaver across the bay swam to and fro, tending to his (her?) dam. Ducks flew overhead and the spring peepers sang in the distance. Our son tried his hand at fishing with the owner's equipment. If the weather was warmer, we would have used one of the kayaks or canoes on hand. Another major highlight of this experience was the free-standing sauna. It is "by appointment" -- which basically means that we could text the owner with a few hours notice and he would stoke the fire and get things heated up. It was pure bliss and so relaxing every night. "

"A nice surprise very close to town. Very clean. Check-in was super fast and easy. The breakfast had a few additional nice touches and Lori was a great host. Make your own yogurt with toppings (inclding m&ms and also blueberries and raspberries), waffles, as well as pre-made omlettes, oats, boiled eggs. The restaurant attached had a great atmosphere and was busy on a Friday night."

"We couldn’t have had a better experience! Such a beautiful cottage—immaculate, gorgeous decor, spectacular deck w/exquisite lake view, super-cozy beds, outstanding communication with hosts! We actually had local plans canceled due to a late March “wintry” ice storm, but couldn’t imagine a better place to hunker down! Hope to return! "

"Was kind of nervous since the outside of the hotel looked sketchy and old however it was surprisingly decent. The free breakfast was delicious, the staff was nice and helpful, the room was clean. Will definitely stay here again next time I’m in the area. "

"We were more than impressed by this property, and surpised by the total freedom from other people on the lands. We loved staying at this charming property that is rustic and thoughtfully decorated. The views are amazing and the place is completely quiet. There is a long driveway up from the 'main road', which is really a very lightly traveled road anyway. We enjoyed the silence, and the bucolic views and lifestyle. It was late winter and there was snow on the ground when we arrived, but the heating unit kept the place very comfortably warm. We cooked a lot, but were also only 20 minutes from Brattleboro restaurants. A really great stay, and we hope to return."
