The Space:
Golden Plains by Tiny Away is located in a rural locality in the Golden Plains Shire, only 16 minutes from Ballarat, and other attractions such as the Ballarat Tramway Museum, Enfield State Park, Bluestone Cafe, and Such N Such Cafe are a few of the recommended attractions our vacationers enjoy.
It's the perfect off-grid experience with a well-equipped kitchenette, pot-bellied stove, queen-sized bed up in the loft, and a couch on the ground floor. A cozy 157-square tiny home with all the modern amenities of home, with a kitchenette and cooking tools including cutlery, and a portable electric cooler fridge.
The bathroom follows ecologically sustainable principles, including a waterless eco-friendly compost toilet, hand basin, and shower (gas-heated for hot showers). It focuses on satisfying people's needs with natural resources and processes to save water by using eco-friendly toilets to save the environment.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please take note that this tiny house is an off-grid unit that runs on solar energy. To avoid power outages, conserve energy during the day and use it only when necessary.
As an added note, there are two other tiny houses on the property, "Gold Meadows" and "Gold Fields," that are not solar-powered. If you want to book in groups or prefer a house with electric installation, you may contact your land host 24 hrs in advance to make arrangements.

Guests will have access to the tiny house and its surrounding areas, except the land host's private residence.

- Enfield State Park is a popular activity that features various ranges of walking tracks of various lengths and terrain.
- Boden's Water Race is a challenging route that requires an average of 1 h 17 min of bushwalking or hiking to complete.
- Nimmons Bridge is Victoria's fourth-tallest timber trestle rail bridge, located 3 km from Scarsdale on the way to Cape Clear.
- Ballarat Walking Trails offers 22 scenic bushwalking and bike riding trails, including Lake Wendouree, and the Goldfields Track.
Getting Around:
By car:
- 8 km drive to and from Smythsdale
- 17min (or 18km) drive to and from Ballarat
- 1 hr and 40 min (or 138 km) drive from Melbourne
By public transport:
- Train or bus from Melbourne to Ballarat train station are available, or you can take an Uber or taxi to the property
- Please note that bus runs from general store on Tuesday and Thursday

- Please note that we have a pet dog, an old horse, 7 sheep, and 2 dams on our property
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
- Make sure to close the windows and doors, turn off the lights and electronics (e.g., especially chargers)
Guest Advisory
- No pets are allowed until the electric fence is built to prevent neighbor's dogs from coming into the property
- Please advise that there will be some animal and tractor noise during your stay with us as we are a working farm that cares for animals and crops.
Important note:
- Guests are advised to bring portable power banks in case of low power
- Guests are also advised to save energy to avoid running out of electricity
- USB ports will be provided to guests for charging devices to conserve energy
- Please charge your phone and electronics in advance in case of low-light days
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property
- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- Please be advised that there will be other guests as there are two other tiny houses on the property
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the [compost/cassette] toilets and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
