Everything about the apartment was as advertised and reflected in the photos. The bathroom is very tiny! I have never been on a cruise, but my sister compared it to a cruise shower. My husband barely fit in it. We stayed 10 nights and all was good until night 9, New Year’s Eve. We went to bed just after midnight, at 3am we woke to a STRONG smell of smoke! There were no alarms going off etc, but when my husband opened the front door the entire hallway was FILLED with smoke. We quickly got dressed, grabbed passports and medications and started making our way down the stairs attempting to yell/alert others to evacuate. Unfortunately they did not. We discovered the trash can on the first floor was on fire. My husband had grabbed the extinguisher from the apartment and emptied it onto the fire, mostly extinguishing it. I called emergency services and they thought I was joking! A Dr waved down police in the street who went through and cleared the building of residents and guests. Fire eventually showed up checked the electrical and was about to leave when my husband insisted they remove the can and embers. Initially they said no, but then got a shovel from the truck and as they scooped the embers they were still smoldering. It was very scary. The support staff were ugly to me via email because the ad says smoke detector, but we never saw one and no alerts went off.
