We read online that check-in was open all day but to notify the hotel when we wanted to check-in (14:00) which we did, however, we arrived a little early at 13:30. We could not find the hotel as it is an apartment converted into a hotel meaning there was no sign outside, only the name in small writing on the apartment buzzer leading us to walk around for a while. When we finally found the right door we pressed the buzzer and it did not work, however, when our host finally came it did work so there must have been a technical issue. We found him to be pleasant enough.
When we booked we were notified that we had a ‘VIP Offer’, €15 to spend in the hotel. Upon check-in we were notified that we would not be able to redeem our offer but rather have our room ‘upgraded’. We felt that we did not have an upgraded room. I’d even say that the room looked worse than the one we booked online, I felt cheated. Residenza Roma need an updated photo online.
I felt that the room was in a poor state compared to the photo online. Our room had not been ‘upgraded’. It had marked walls (see the photo provided), dusty bedside tables and wardrobe, a damaged window, the bathroom was in a poor state and the shower head, I’ll leave you to make your own judgement with the photo attached. We found that the kettle was dirty with a few small hairs inside rendering it unusable. Our mini-fridge did not work.
