At two Metro stops, less than 5 minutes, you will find yourself in Garbatella, one of the most unique and fascinating areas of Rome.
Thanks to the amenity of its foreshortenings and its essence of "country neighborhood", the particular mix that distinguishes it, a popular-rural aspect combined with different architectural influences, the Roman Baroque and rationalism-futurism, is what makes it one of the most singular and fascinating areas of Rome.
Add to this its vitality, perceptible not only by crossing it but also by the cultural ferment typical of the neighborhood: today it houses various culturally relevant centers such as the Ambra alla Garbatella theater, the Palladium Theater and more.
With three Metro stops you will be in Testaccio, the neighborhood loved by Pasolini and Ozpetek
The Rione Testaccio is a widespread museum: crossing it is a journey that embraces all eras, from the remains of the Imperial Rome emporium to the fascist palaces and the testimonies of industrial archeology. It is one of the quarters of the Roman nightlife, historically gay friendly, a privileged location for the films of Pierpaolo Pasolini and Ferzan Ozpetek.
The name Testaccio derives from the 35-meter mountain on which it stands (the Testaceus, remains of shards, Testae in Latin, which compose it).
Free route - Pyramid of Cestius, Porta San Paolo, Aurelian Walls, fascist palaces, remains of the Roman Emporium, Piazza Santa Maria Liberatrice, New Market, Macro, Museum of Contemporary Art in the former Slaughterhouse, Bio Market, Gasometer, Monte dei Shards and "caves", Commonwealth Cemetery.
Path with paid entrance: Piramide Cestia, Archaeological Museum of Porta San Paolo, non-Catholic or poets' cemetery (tombs of Keates, Shelley, Gadda, Gramsci, Camilleri), Macro, Museum of Contemporary Art in the former Slaughterhouse, Centrale Montemartini dei Capitoline museums.
Also from the Piramide stop it is possible to take the connection with the train line to Ostia lido to spend a day at the beach or to admire the splendid Roman ruins of Ostia Antica.
