Our family of 3 generations enjoyed our stay on the beach. Enjoyed having an open main living with plenty of room to hang out. Ocean views were great. The outdoor shower was not working properly, so we probably brought more sand into the house as a result. Good location. There was much excitement in the neighborhood when the house down the beach fell into the ocean! Our rental was very safely located a distance from the dunes, so no worries.
This home was wonderful!! The house itself was lovely and well-kept! The location and proximity to the beach were perfect!! The owners were very responsive with any questions. We would definitely return!! For those new to the area, we did learn that linens are not usually included in the rental but we were able to arrange this through a cleaning service. Just a heads up!
We had a terrific experience at Genesis! The house is wonderful - well maintained, clean, and very comfortable. Perhaps the best beds we've ever had at a vacation rental! Very close to the beach (literally one minute), with the steady soothing sounds of the surf at the house. Owners are terrific hosts - very supportive and available. Great location in terms of the southern Outer Banks - everything you need is accessible, but without the crowding of some of the other communities. Would definitely stay again!
Just a short walk to the beach and everything we needed for our spring break getaway. Town was very cute although not everything was open due to the time of year but expected. Short drive south or north gives you more options and endless scenery. House was fully stocked with essentials. We did have to bring our own sheets, blankets and towels due to shortage of laundry services. Great vacation and lots of memories!
We stayed at this beautiful property for a family vacation with our grown children and their spouses, one 9 year old and my dad and mom who drove from Arizona. 8 adults and one child. Great location The owners were very responsive from the time of booking to our actual stay.
We spent mornings watching the beautiful sunrise from the top deck. Cabinets had plenty of dishes and pots and pans. One suggestion - the bath towels supplied did the job, but they are rough and small. If you’re able to bring your own, you may prefer that. My dad just turned 75 and those were a lot of stairs up and down and I LOVED IT! He managed several trips up and down every day, and I went home feeling like I actually may have lost weight on vacation! Haha
YOU WILL LOVE THIS HOUSE!
Big house in nice location in need of deep clean and updates
The home was a nice size to accommodate a large family and in a beautiful location with great views. The home is older and in need of some updates. The bathrooms are very old. The house is in serious need of a very deep clean. We spent a lot of our trip just cleaning areas that clearly had not been addressed prior to our visit.
Our stay was beyond enjoyable. We arrived around 6pm unloaded quickly so we could take in all the beautiful views on the top floor. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and inviting. House was stocked with all the essentials and extras left behind from previous guests were a bonus. We loved how to kitchen was open to the huge living room where we could all interact and listen to the waves. The nights were breathtaking as we were able to star gaze on the upper deck. The Beach was a short walk away and it did not disappoint. We wanted a relaxing vacation without huge crowds and this private beach was nothing short of amazing. Owners were communicative and checked in to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. They were also very flexible and considerate. We hope to return in the future!
Between my family and my sister's, we had 4 adults and 4 children stay at the house. It was the perfect size to accommodate our large group. This was our first time to the Outer Banks and we didn't know much about the area. Based on comparisions, this was simply the best property offered in this price range with accessibility to the beach, size, and shared living area. We were not disappointed!
We loved how quiet & relaxing the beach was. It was easy enough for our toddler to walk to and from at the end of the driveway. Being able to come and go throughout the day, without making it a huge production, was a must! The neighborhood is really charming and quiet. There are tons of side streets to go for walks/runs and the beach is really easy to walk/run along as well.
Being from NYS, Lisa's around the corner had amazing pizza. Their salads are also amazing!
Hattaras is easy to drive down to and explore the lighthouse (for free and with family-friendly educational presentations) and I highly recommend Diamond Shoals for seafood in Buxton.
It's also an easy drive up to Nags Head for shopping, events, golfing, and other attractions. Manteo has an aquarium, but make sure you reserve a time slot to go. We recommend Salt Coast Outfitters for any OBX gear/souvenirs.
Cassandra and Phil were very responsive and kind hosts. They helped make it a great experience. It was such a fun time that we definitely want to return!
Very nice property. Modern appliances, furniture and amenities. Great view of the ocean from the top deck. Definitely would consider a return visit.

We stayed here for a week at the end of July. It was an amazing trip. We had excellent weather every day. The beach is a 1 min walk. The views from the deck are priceless. We even got to watch a few storms roll by (after our beach time so no interruptions). My kids are age 8 and 4, they loved the beach, it is pretty shallow, though there is a short drop off just beyond where the waves crash but my 4 year old did great.
The top floor (living space) had an excellent lay out. Lots of comfortable seating. A bar for extra beverages. It was perfect. There were toys and games for the kids to play with as well.
Owners provided great communication and were easily available for questions or concerns. We also met the cleaning staff and they were really kind too.
The new bridge is open going into Rodanthe so the original road in is now closed which provided a great running space with no traffic but great views (about 0.5 miles from the house).
We ordered a seafood boil from Austin South Island Seafood and it was INCREDIBLE. We also got coffee and pastry's from Beads and Beans and it was delicious!
Overall, an awesome experience, would definitely recommend. Quiet, quaint beach community. Even the drive into town was beautiful through a nature preserve!
This house was perfect for our family vacation. We particularly enjoyed the great room with 3 couches and an ocean view-- perfect for everyone to relax and enjoy games/books/etc in the evening. House was in good condition. The hosts were very responsive and helpful. The sound side provided good swimming and kayaking nearby on days when the ocean waves were rough. There were a lot of mosquitoes in Rodanthe during our visit, so I recommend bringing bug spray.
Our hosts we great, very communicative, and the house had everything we needed. (Remember linens.) So nice to just sit on the porch and in the living room and enjoy the beautiful beach. Thank you!
Communication with property manager was excellent! You can really tell they have a continuing passion for this beach home! The updates seem to be coming along, although there are some small things to be improved like the tubs/showers which aren't necessarily child friendly, but I'm sure that the owners have plans to update this eventually. Overall this home was exactly and what we were hoping for (other then the tubs) and worked out nice for my small children and older parents. Large great room. The beach is accessible in about a one minute or less walk. The views are incredible even with a home located partial in front of it. They got it right with the caption Views, views, views!!! Amazing to see the sun rise and sunset all from one house. Conveniently located right in the middle of Nags Head and Avon, short drive to either location. Rodanthe is a relaxing, soothing beach with plenty of incredible sea shells, this home is within a one mile walk to Pea wildlife reserve which has empty uninhabited beaches. AMAZING sea shell location, you can walk or drive there. We would definitely stay here again!!! Met and exceeded our expectations!!! Thanks for a unforgettable vacation with my family with so many new memories made!!!
Gorgeous surroundings. Secluded and tranquil while also convenient to locally-owned eateries and shops. The home itself is very comfortable and perfectly placed to capitalize on the Atlantic breezes. Host communication was stellar and super helpful!
Great place to stay for mixed group of family and friends
The house is bright, spacious and comfortable, conveniently located, well laid-out and very well appointed. Communication with the owners was top-notch, they were very gracious and accommodating and everything was as advertised. The location was great for us -- we are a group of kiteboarders and the house is just a 5 minute drive from where we were launching down at Real, along with being just a 2 minute walk to the gorgeous beach, where we hung out and body-surfed on no-wind days. Highly recommend this place if you have a larger group looking for a very comfortable, pleasant stay!
We really enjoyed our family vacation at this home in the Outer Banks. It has great views, two large decks and is a very short walk to the beach. (One house back from the ocean) The upper floor is a great place to hang out with your family, play games, enjoy family dinners and look out at the ocean. If your looking for solitude, the middle deck has a comfortable bench swing that is positioned to catch the west winds. The shower and hoses on the lower level came in handy for cleaning up after the beach. The property managers were responsive, check-in was easy and the house has pretty much everything you need for a fun beach vacation!
House is a short walk to a very nice beach. Rodanthe is a great alternative to the busier Outer Banks beaches. Owners are making updates to the house each year. We had everything we needed for cooking large meals, but note that you will need to provide your own linens, blankets, and towels, which would be difficult if flying. Our family of 6 adults and 1 child enjoyed our stay. Dolphins and gorgeous sunrises visible right from the deck.
