Cozy, quiet cottage overlooking the picturesque Bremer Valley
Sleepy Hollow Cottage is located on our 5 acre property in the beautiful Bremer Valley, Rockleigh, approximately 10kms north of Callington. It is the perfect place for those looking for an escape from the noise and bustle of everyday life. The cottage is suited to adult singles or a couple, with open plan living, an un-fenced yard and lots of wildlife, children and pets are not permitted. With scrubby bush keeping it private, Sleepy Hollow Cottage is approximately 100m down the diveway past our house, in the middle of Harley's (horse) paddock.
Front door entry leads into the main room, a cosy living/dining area, containing a combustion wood fire. With vaulted pine ceiling, slate floor and mud brick walls, a lovely warm space greets you. The kitchenette is very well equipped with eating space for two, basic pantry staples (oils, herbs/spices, tea/coffee, milk) kitchenware and cooking equipment (toaster, kettle, frypans, saucepans, electric grill and frypan and slow cooker. Included in your stay are cooked breakfast provisions sufficient (at least) for your first morning - bread, juice, home grown eggs, sausages, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms and baked beans. Either a regular or vegetarian option can be requested. There is also a WeberQ located on the front verandah.
The lounge area contains a lovely vintage two seater couch, two similar chairs and a large coffee table. It is equipped with a TV, DVD player and large selection of DVD's, CD/audio system and selection of CD's, a library and games cupboard. This area also has reverse-cycle aircon/heating, block-out blinds and ceiling fan for year-round comfort.
The open bedroom, boasting scenic hill and valley views from the bed, is the perfect place to relax and admire nature. It features a queen size bed, bedside tables with lamps, blanket box, gentleman's wardrobe and relaxing chair (for further admiring of the view).
The spacious, elegant bathroom contains all the amenities for a comfortable stay and includes towels, hairdryer and basic toiletries (hand soap, body wash and shampoo/conditioner. The First Aid cabinet is also located in the bathroom and stocks basic first aid supplies for emergency use.
Continue through the back door to the deck and be further amazed by the beauty of the Bremer Valley. Be entertained by the sounds and antics of a variety of birds and wildlife and watch the kangaroos grazing on the hillside. You may even be lucky enough to spot our resident echidna. This aspect of the property faces west so the back deck is perfect for sunset drinks and nibbles.
With Monarto Safari Park less than 20 minutes away and the Lavender Federation walking trail within close driving distance, Sleepy Hollow is located within easy access of many attractions and country towns worth visiting. Mt Barker - host of AFL's Gather Round, Strathalbyn - SA's Antiques Fair, and the beautiful Murray Bridge, are all around 20 - 25 minutes away. The Barossa, Langhorne Creek and Fleurieu wine regions would make excellent day trips.
