Beautiful property with wonderful scenery- loved the bird watching, so may Great Blue herons and Great Egret’s. We had everything we needed and enjoyed the house so much
The house was comfortable and very clean. My husband and I enjoyed relaxing at this home away from home. We kayaked everyday. Had our breakfast and a couple dinners on the screened in porch. We would love to return in the future.
House was very comfortable, great views of water, very quiet area, but close to town. Kitchen was nicely stocked with glasses, plates, utensils. Nice local information packet provided by Diane. Entering and departing process was easy, smooth. Would definitely stay again. Was convenient for local fishing.
Cute cottage, nicely decorated. River was dirty and full of jellyfish during our stay. One large bedroom so no privacy if bigger party than just a couple. Hide a bed in couch is worn out along with couch. But we made the most of it. Kayaks and peddle boat was awesome!
Location is ideal. House beautiful.
Sofa bed not made and we had to search for linens. Kitchen disorganized and lacking appropriate glassware and utensils. We made do but for the price this was not up to standard. We own rental properties and know what is expected of guests. More attention needs to be made. House is lovely despite this
Loved the property and the kayaks and dock. Water pressure problems entire trip though. Even sent a video to property manager with what was happening. Not resolved. We dealt with it. Water also never actually got hot. Also the smoke detectors would randomly go off. Happened about 5 times. Once at 2am. Ugh. Great place. Minor irritation.
Egret's Nest is a charming, comfortable, well appointed home, perfect for relaxing on and off the water. The bird watching is fantastic whether you are looking out the lovely bay windows, sitting on the dock or paddling the calm an beautiful Grays Creek. Each day, we saw Bald Eagle, Heron and Osprey, to name a few. We watched many butterflies in the back yard and got our first view of a tiny hummingbird moth who visited daily.
The neighborhood was very peaceful during our August visit. The kitchen is very well stocked. We cooked almost all of our meals and did not want for any cookware. The drive into Rock Hall for provisions or a meal out is quick and easy . Historic Chestertown is only 25 minutes away and is a great place to explore history, cute shops, restaurants and the surprisingly delightful (for cat lovers) Cat Colloquium.
Note that the house has only one bedroom - which is enormous, gorgeous and sleeps 4-5. It's great for family togetherness and teenagers may want to stay on the sleeper sofa in the living room.
We all really enjoyed our stay. Very peaceful. My granddaughter and the dog had great fun swimming in the creek. We also enjoyed the kayaks. The house had everything we needed although the water supply was a bit quirky! We appreciated the wine. Thanks for a relaxing vacation.
Beautiful location with a great dock for my boat. The house is very nicely decorated and in great condition. The only problem was the water. Would be taking a shower and the water would go down to nothing. We will surely book again.
We spent 6 days there. I enjoyed sitting on the dock and watching the birds, lots of herons and ospreys. The screened in porch was great for meals. The inlet was quiet without much boat traffic. We enjoyed the kayaks and the paddle boat. We did not try the canoe. The kitchen was well stocked with kitchenware. We enjoyed some of the supplied games. Rock Hall is a quiet little town, not much in the way of shops, but there is a small grocery and drug store and coffee shop. Property manager responded quickly when I texted a question. Would recommend for a quiet family trip on the water.
We just spent a long weekend here and had a wonderful time. Our kids absolutely loved fishing off the dock in the back and our dog was in heaven with the trees, lovely back yard and water. We spent some time at the nearby Eastern Neck Wildlife Refuge, just a short drive away, and Rock Hall’s Main Street area. Great little shops, coffee and food. Will definitely return if we get the chance!
We had a fabulous, relaxing vacation while staying at Egret's Nest. The location is beautiful and so serene. We thoroughly enjoyed the kayaks and the convenience of being right on the water. Hanging out on the pier reading and snacks an cocktails on the screened-in porch were also favored activities. Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven!
Great location in quiet neighborhood with views of the water. Very nice property with kayaks and fishing right out the backdoor. Would definitely come back.

Nice but not without problems
My husband, dog and I spent 3 days at Egret's Nest in early May 2021. The house itself is nicely laid out and more spacious than expected. Lots of windows overlooking the river, a small screened-in porch off the living area on the first floor and a small deck off the bedroom on the second floor. The house was reasonably clean. However, we lost power on our first two nights. The first night was due to high winds, the second night due to an accident, which was miles from the house. Both outages lasted less than a few hours BUT be aware that no power means NO WATER! The water is supplied via electric pump (read: low water pressure), hence no water during a power outage. Not even a dribble. To make matters worse, there was no bottled water in the house. We had to make do with what was in our water bottles that we had brought with us. A rental house situated in an area with such a fragile infrastructure should be equipped with a generator, a water cooler or, at the very least, a supply of bottled water for guests' use. And guests should certainly be forewarned rather than left to figure things out in the dark with only one flashlight and some sad candles. Overall we enjoyed our stay, though it was an overpriced, frustrating experience.
This was a wonderful vacation rental that had much to offer. The property was very clean and well-organized. Eating our meals in the 180-degree vestibule viewing the water was an everyday joy. We enjoyed the kayaks and was able to take our toddler out on the gentle creek, which he fully enjoyed. Overall we had a wonderful, relaxing time at the Egret's Nest and would certainly come again.
The only minor hick-up we were not fully expecting the house to be a one-bedroom based on the profile. This may have been my oversight rather than the listing's. In any event, this was not a problem for us with toddler who could use the pull out in the master. But I could see it being an issue with families with multiple children if they were not expecting it.
In addition to the wonderful house and water (and kayaks), we were pleasantly surprised by the eating options at (outside on decks) at nearby Rock Hall - on the water and good seafood each night. The little town looked cute but few things open right now.
