This hotel is worth the money paid.
The staff are what made our stay. They are wonderful! We chose a budget hotel during the Olympic Games. It is what it is. The breakfasts were great.

Fun in funky center of Ri
The staff at the Hotel were very helpful & friendly. Most spoke some English or Spanish. One young desk clerk, Fabian, spoke excellent English & loved talking with me & warned about being careful in the streets late at night & near some of the tourist sights. Lots of homeless people in this part of Rio sleeping near the restaurants & hotels on the sidewalks. Many very fine Graffiti murals on buildings & narrow side streets. Rio seems to embrace as a real art form. Not just scribbling & defacing as I found in Central Buenas Aires. Lots of nice old building facades. Lots of life in the streets. My room on the 6th floor was mostly quiet. Week ends some late partying at restaurants on corner. Turning air on fan covered the sounds. No trouble sleeping. Fine view from roof top patio area. Pool was more like a large cooling tub, nor for swimming.

I was not impressed
This is not a three star hotel. This is a 1.5 to 2 star hotel. If you're looking for an economy, then take it but it you're looking for comfort, this is not it.

Goos choice

Good location but average condition
Our stay here was good as we were looking for something private with some cleaning standards compared to our hostel. However the condition of the rooms and decor is very dated. Everything worked fine and it was a good location for food and buses. Just dont have high expectations for a hotel.

Nice location but need renovation
It was not a bad hotel but should be renovation soon. Everything is old and looks dirty. The only good thing is the location. Walking distance to Lapa. The staff is really friendly.

we arrived it is in a not so good area the parking lot is 4 blocks away (paid) the rooms are not nice the a/c did not work decided to move out the next day

Rio's Nice Hotel - walking distance to Lapa
The Hotel is very basic and would say that 3 stars is pushing it. However the rooms are clean and tidy, breakfast in the morning is quite good. I loved the convenience (walking distance) to Lapa and all the best Samba clubs in Rio. Also very closet St Theresa and the bus to Copa and Leblon stops right out the front of the hotel.

I felt safer each day there, I belive a smaller hotel may watch out for your belongings better than some of the large guys with the big price. The neighborhood is rough but where in Brazil is it really safe. If you are intimidated easily I suggest another place. I was ok here and was always in by 11pm. I did not leave many valuables in the room but think I could have. Like I said the owner/mgr personally watched everything going on. This is a big plus.

Rio's "Nice" Hotel
The name of this hotel is misleading, as is the picture of the hotel lobby and rooms they show on the website. Although this hotel is not terrible by any means, it's very old and not very comfortable. The bedroom was decent, it had a good bed, tv with cable, and a desk. The air conditioner was alright too, but it wasn't too hot outside during our trip. The bathroom, however, was terrible. The shower was extremely old and small, and the only way to adjust the water to the right temperature required soaking your arm to reach the controls once the water was on. The toilet plumbing blocked the seat from going fully up, requiring you to hold it(for guys) or having it rest on your back(for girls). Towels and vanity(small) were fine. The bathroom was very no-frills about extras: It only had two small bars of soap, no shampoo/conditioner/lotion/toothpaste, and no hair dryer. The hotel room uses a normal key, not a sliding security card, and you turn in the key at the lobby desk every time you leave(which I liked). I didn't feel unsafe during my time in this hotel. I stayed there for 3 nights, and the price on this website was very reasonable. Consider Hotel Monte Alegre instead, it's just down the street, and looked much nicer. The neighborhood has plenty of bakeries, bars, and there are 2 supermarkets(one right across the street). Nice restaurants are hard to find, however. Many taxis to be found right next to the hotel entrance. Great Breakfast Buffet!!

Good value for money - happy with the stay
I was pleasantly surprised with the room that was good and spacious, excellent reception on arrival, good choice of breakfast items - all at a modest price by Rio de Janeiro's hotel prices. There is a large departmental stores right in front. It is close to city centre and near the domestic airport.

Bom hotel, com boa localização e bom serviço de quarto, porém barulhento e precisando de manutenção/atualizações. Não esqueça de pendurar na porta, "não perturbe"!
