This vacation was exactly what we needed. Comfy beds, direct beach access, quite peaceful setting, and not having to worry about meal planning, cooking and cleaning. The staff did an amazing job on a daily basis. I would definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a Jamaican get away.

Seahorse review
We had a lovely stay at Seahorse with another couple. Very private, quiet and comfortable! We loved the pool and privacy of the bay…house staff was very accommodating, kept the property clean and catered to our food requests. Chappy the house manager went above and beyond to find some (highly sought after) wood to build us beach bonfires and Gloria, the chef, worked around a variety of different food requests. Andrew, our driver, was amazing as well (the recommended driver from the host)…he was just wonderful with suggestions and even hooked us up with his ‘fish guy’ so we could eat fresh fish a few times. Was a great trip!

Amazing vacation!
If you're looking for a quiet private vacation home, this is it! The house is absolutely perfect, directly on the beach. Gloria, Choppie and Jhenelle are wonderful people. Gloria made sure our bellies were full with amazing home cooked meals, choppie took care of the grounds and security and made us a beautiful bonfire on the beach and finally Jhenelle made sure the house was always immaculate. Why go to a resort when you can have it all minus the crowds!!!!! Thanks again for everything!

Villa of relaxation
My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at the Seahorse Villa. Was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Gloria kept us well fed, Chappie does a bit of everything. Most importantly takes wonderful care of the guests, and Janelle kept the rooms clean and tidy. If you enjoy massages, ask Chappie to schedule a time to have Caroline come out to the Villa. She does a wonderful job as well! Thanks for making our stay amazing. Hope to be back in the future.

Wonderful!
This was our 2nd stay at Seahorse Villa, and it didn’t disappoint. The staff is amazing. Brenda, the owner, is quick to respond to questions. It was very hot and humid, so we spent a lot of time in the pool. We had to move our game night into one of the bedrooms to take advantage of the AC. The house is in a gated neighborhood, and there is someone there 24-7, so we felt very safe. You can go wrong with this property.

Everything One Could Ask For
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Seahorse!! The staff and house were both outstanding. It had rained earlier in the week and so the storm water got into the bay making it a bit muddy; nevertheless we enjoyed the stay at the villa - great outdoor living space and a private pool and beach literally right outside the door. Very appreciative of the air conditioned bedrooms. This place had everything one could ask for in a beach vacation - centrally located between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. We enjoyed Chef Gloria's cooking and are very appreciative of the hospitality offered by the other staff members, Choppie and Janelle. If you're looking for a private vacation that's like having your own all inclusive, this is a safe bet - your own villa on a private beach in a gated community !! Love it !!

Great place for a family to stay
This home is a great place for family with kids, seemed very safe and away from everything for privacy. You have a private beach with about 6 homes that share the beach and very little activity so it private. The staff was wonderful too, Gloria will cook whatever you like, fried chicken, shrimp, locale favorites, all good. If you want to kayak, its perfect as the water is not rough. If you want to snorkel, its better at other places as the water is not clear here due to the fresh water river that runs into the bay. A little maintenance is needed as our safe was not working, although we felt we could trust the staff. Chappy is always on site so you can feel safe. Speaking of staff, be sure to bring extra cash as they recommend you to tip the staff at the end of the stay, anywhere from 10-15% of your rental.

Our Second Stay, But We Hope Not Our Last
My wife, daughter, and I returned to Seahorse in December after a visit in June. We certainly hope to return again. The house offers the perfect entree to the Jamaican sun and beach, and we enjoyed both immensely, especially knowing that we'd be returning to a frigid New York. In our June visit, we enjoyed free mangoes and apples from the trees on the property. They were not in season in December, and we ended up paying more than we expected for apples from a local market -- so the lesson is to consult with the staff before ordering fruits and vegetables. Many thanks to Chappie, Abigail, and Andrea, the wonderful staff of Seahorse, and we hope to see you again soon!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
3 couples spent almost a week in this beautiful, cozy and comfortable home. It was such a relaxing vacation! We were halfway in between Montego Bay and Ochos Rios. The staff were simply amazing. They became like our family on just the second day. We ate all meals outside and spent most of our time lounging in the many conversation areas outside as well. Abby's cooking is divine! The men in our group needed help with our rental and since Chappie knows everyone, (smile) we were able to get resolution really fast. The house stayed clean, laundry stayed washed, our belly's stayed full. This was one of the best trips reconnecting our friendships (and we go somewhere different every year). We will definitely come back with our children. If you are looking for nightlife, entertainment, etc., it's nowhere close. The bay the house sits on is very quiet. The pubs/ restaurants close not long after dark. You do need a car if you stay in this area.

Beyond Words … Just Incredible,
Tl;dr: The Seahorse villa, staff, food, and overall experience was amazing. Long version: Communication with Dan and Brenda was flawless - they answered every question and provided a wealth of resources to plan and make the trip seamless. Amazing hosts! Chappie, Jhenell, and Gloria were incredible from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. They worked tirelessly to make sure we were taken care of, the villa and grounds were spotless, and we were never hungry! If I win the lottery I’ll be convincing Gloria to come back to Canada with us - her cooking is incredible. The villa is on a stretch of beach with maybe a dozen houses, so outside of the occasional group walking the sands … we had half a mile of beach to ourselves. The water was clean, calm, and swimmable throughout the entire day. Tips: — Bring more $ than you think you’ll need! — Don’t bother bringing beach/pool stuff. There are floating devices, goggles, sand toys for kids, etc, to draw from. — Bring bug spray and grab a citronella candle (or two) from Progressive grocery. The mosquitoes can be a bother at night without it! — Book a beach massage with Caroline and Ann-Marie, worth every penny This was our first stay at a villa and set a ridiculously high bar. If you’re debating if this is the one … trust me it is :)

Peaceful
Our stay was amazing. The layout of the house was so nice. We really loved the outdoor sitting area... so much we all said a tv out there would have been nice at night time for when we weren't quite ready for bed and wanted the nice ocean breeze and to hear the waves yet. The pool was great to float around and loved the sound system to hook up to play music through your phone... note it only works for iphones so unfortunately my android did not work but we just used my sisters. The beds were very comfortable. The staff are all such hard workers and so friendly. Having the house, pool, and beach so close was truly amazing and spoiled us for every future vacation! Chappy does a great job to make sure you feel safe and was up at 6am every day raking the yard with a smile on his face. Dan and Brenda, the owners, were amazing and so helpful in answering the 100 questions i had...pry not exaggerating lol. This was our first time not staying at an all inclusive resort so I had so many questions for them and they never made me feel like a bother. The only thing we all said was we wish we were either closer to Montego Bay or Ocho Rio as it was right in the middle and a good 50 to 60 minute drive one way to go to either of them. We would definitely go back. Thanks for wonderful memories and a great new experience!!

Great relaxing beachfront house
Janelle did a great job of keeping the house clean, changing the sheets and towels and doing our laundry. Charlie kept the beach and pool clean and arranged for transportation. Gloria made us great meals. Andrew shuttled us around and picked us up at the airport. The beds were comfortable and the AC in the bedrooms worked great.Bathrooms were immaculate. A large storm a few weeks before our stay took away a lot of sand from the beach making a little slope rather than a flat entry into the water. That also didn’t allow us to have a bonfire on the beach since the house and trees were too close. Mother Nature will change this again! We were there 2 weeks and had only one day of rain. There were waves that one day. Other than that the water was perfectly calm and wonderful. There were 3 kayaks, pool floats, and beach toys. The VRBO site stated breakfast was included which meant the cook was available for breakfast- food was not included. We opted to make our own breakfast since everyone got up at different times. Groceries are expensive. Don’t bother going shopping for groceries since it is not worth the $60 cab ride. You can have what you want called in and delivered. They showed up the day before we left to get our credit card. Their exchange rate is not good, so use the card and pay in Jamaican $. Plenty of seating outside. The pictures show the dining table outside, but it is really tucked in a corner of the covered patio. Not much of a breeze there!

Highly recommend this ideal stay
Beautiful villa, incredible experience and the most arelaxing vacation. No where else have we been able to go from beach to pool to ocean in seconds. Ms. Gloria takes care of all meals and clean up which is an unheard of treat! Ms. Jhenelle kept the house beautifully clean and even did our laundry before we left. Choppie had our kayaks ready and kept us safe on property!! What we LOVED: Private pool Pool floats available Sand toys available Beach in a cove- Only about 10 other villas on the cove! The cooking and cleaning!!!! A/c in bedrooms Kayaks and paddle board and snorkels! Ocean life—sea turtles, crabs and fish Incredible sunsets Never had to leave Tons of games and books provided Comfy beds Spacious bathrooms Deadbolts and locks! Did I mention cooking and cleaning??? Amazing! Call-outs (not complaints! Just be aware!) -Bring bug spray—-you’ll get eaten! -Wifi doesn’t work well, don’t depend on it to do much more! My hubby had to use his hotspot to do his bit of work -Mr. Choppie is great, but a bit of a stickler. Be super cautious of the rules, especially if you have kiddos! -groceries and transportation are more expensive than you expect! Bring enough cash! -the water is wonderful but not the clear blue we experienced in Montego Bay. Again, not a complaint, just an fyi. - there is ac in bedrooms but not the main area! When we couldn’t play games outside, we had to play on a bed otherwise it got a bit toasty!

Most Relaxing and Easy Family Vacation EVER!
Our family of five stayed at the Seahorse during our school vacation week and had a wonderful time. This spot is an amazingly beautiful place to rest and relax. The beach was quiet and lovely. The villa was as pictured with high-quality finishes, furnishings and decor. Our kids LOVED having a pool to themselves and we could not get them out of it! We used the kayaks and paddleboards almost every day. We enjoyed the hammock and all the comfortable outdoor spaces. We snorkeled on the right side of the bay where there is a decent reef with some fish. Chappie did a great job making us feel taken care of and safe, and Andrea kept the house and our clothes clean. What a treat to return home with almost all clean clothes! We enjoyed Abi's food but think she may have had an off week. We found it a bit challenging to work with her to plan the meals and meal times and were disappointed mostly in dessert. If (when!) we return, we will bring most of our non-fresh food from home to save on food costs. Treats included buying a big snapper off the beach (and having Abi make it for dinner one night and fish tacos the next day - YUM) and buying lobster off the beach. In general, this was the most relaxing and restful vacation we've ever had. We had one big day out hiking Dunns River Falls and Blue Hole and another day we did a snorkeling trip, but our three young kids did not want to leave the house and my husband and I were thrilled to have them push us around the pool on pool floats! What a treat. You will not be disappointed with a stay at the Seahorse!

The Trip of a Lifetime
We had the most amazing time in Jamaica! The owner answered all questions very quickly and thoroughly. The grocery process could not have been easier -- we had Gloria shop for us and the market came to the house with a credit card machine for us to pay. So so awesome to not have to worry about that. The house is gorgeous, and we loved being on our own private beach. Depending on what attractions you wants to visit, the house is in a very good location as it is pretty centrally located to many of the top attractions. The house is very well stocked (games, blender, full kitchen supplies) although they are a stingy with the beach towels. The pool is awesome and very clean. I took one star away for two reasons. The first, is not the fault of the owner but something I wish I had known. I booked over Easter. Turns out Easter is a VERY big deal on the Island with lots of parties. We did not sleep at all the first three nights because of parties and loud music from across the bay. The final night (the Monday after Easter Sunday) LOUD repetitive bass went until 4:00 a.m. (no exaggeration). However, after holiday, the house and area were silent at night and wonderful for the next 5 nights. So I think normally this is not an issue but if you are there over Easter beware. The other reason was the master bed -- the mattress is awesome and comfortable but the bed frame is ridiculously noisy. Every movement creates a loud creaking noise. We couldn't take it. We ended up sleeping in a different room. That all said though, we would definitely book Seahorse again. We had the trip of a lifetime and the house is so lovely. It was hard to leave paradise.

Seahorse Exceeded Our Expectations
Our family of three had a wonderful stay at Seahorse. Everything is designed to make the experience relaxing and enjoyable. The owners recommended a driver, Andrew, to pick us up at the airport. He was right on time and took us to a supermarket near the airport, with no extra charge for the stop. When we got to the house, two things struck us right away: the friendly staff greeted us with cold wet towels so that we could cool off, and we took a glimpse of the view through the open front and patio doors – straight to the beach and the sea. It was spectacular. The staff of three is unfailingly friendly and helpful. They are Chappie, the gardener, who is also responsible for the swimming pool; Abigail, the cook; and Andrea, the housekeeper. The owners went out of their way to obtain a highchair for our toddler, which made the stay more comfortable for her and for us – especially since we ate all our meals outdoors, on the covered patio, a short distance from the pool. The house features three bedrooms with king-size beds and en-suite bathrooms, which is very helpful for multiple couples. The bedrooms all have high ceilings, ceiling fans, and air conditioning. The living room and patio have ceiling fans. It is clear that much thought went into the décor, with various items reflecting Jamaican culture, nautical themes, and seahorses. Abigail gave us different placemats and table linens for each of our meals. (Because we have special dietary needs, she did not do as much cooking as she usually does, but she did help with salad preparation and shared a Key Lime Pie recipe that we are eager to try.) Andrea changed the sheets and towels regularly and kept the house spotless. In addition to his normal duties, which begin early in the morning and conclude with his closing up the house at night, Chappie built a bonfire on the beach one evening and picked fresh mangoes off a tree in the garden. Thanks to the help of the staff, we felt like we were not sacrificing the service in a good hotel, but we had extra living space, plus a short stroll to a private pool and a private beach (in a home that is part of a gated community). Indeed, it’s hard to imagine accommodations that would bring a visitor closer to the waterfront than we were. We would offer a small caveat for data-intensive visitors: Internet service is catch-as-catch-can. If you want to relax in a tranquil setting, however, it would be difficult to do better.

Private Little Gem
We stayed at Villa Seahorse from February 4-11. I would first like to state that the correspondence with the owner prior to arrival was first class. Brenda responded to all of our inquires and comments from the day we booked to the night before we arrived promptly. The villa itself is beautiful, 3 good sized bedrooms all with en suites. The king sized beds are very comfortable and the decorations are very fitting for the property. The layout in the backyard (ocean side) is perfect, lots of comfortable seating in either the sun or the shade. We spent the majority of our stay by the either the pool, beach or lounging in the sectional couch after dinner. The staff was excellent. Abi, Andrea and Chapi all went above our expectations to make us comfortable. Chapi provided some valuable tips and stays at the property overnight in a separate area of the villa. Chapi always made sure everything was put away and the villa locked up prior to bed. Andrea did a fantastic job everyday making sure the villa was clean and tidy for the coming day. Abi looked after preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner for us and did a great job. The food in Jamaica is expensive, plan to spend $250-$350 USD per person excluding alcohol. Abi will prepare almost anything you would like but take the time to talk with her to get an idea what she can and cannot do. We did find it a little unnerving that the villa had to be completely locked up at night including all the windows. We would have preferred to have the windows open to listen the surf. The area itself is fairly quiet and relaxing, located on a side road of the main highway. The only slight negative is its proximity to the main highway which produced occasional traffic noise in the backyard. (ie. motorcycles, large trucks) Transportation can be arranged through the villa from the airport and from the villa into Ocho Rios. It is expensive $120 USD per trip. You will need to factor this into your expenses when you go for groceries or go into town. The driver Andrew is very knowledgeable and provides a large air conditioned van but you may want to shop your transportation around. Overall the Seahorse Villa is an 8 out 10. Unfortunately the owners cannot control the food prices, transportation costs or highway noise. Would I recommend this to a friend? Yes. We would like to thank the staff at Villa Seahorse for a job well done. Thank you.
