Our stay was good. Very rustic. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes, cooking pots/pans, utensils and other items (toaster, blender, coffee, etc.). The air conditioner had a hard time keeping the humidity out but was part of the rustic property. Sitting on the porch was nice and the view of the river was great. We enjoyed our stay.
This was our second stay here. Our family enjoys this house and the location. There is room for everyone. The only downside was the bunkroom can get a little warm. But we still give it a 5!
I can’t say enough good things about this property. It was an amazing experience which the entire family enjoyed. This is right on the river in the middle of a quiet remote area. The setup is unique with the house built around a screened in porch to enjoy the nature setting. The main house is rustic but updated and a great gathering spot.
Tons of space inside, outside, and on the property. We enjoyed kayaking in the pond and on the river. The kids loved frisbee in the yard, cornhole, fire pit, and foosball on the porch. There are chickens and the owner brought us fresh eggs!
We thoroughly enjoyed the week we stayed and left very refreshed and relaxed.
We found this place looking for somewhere other than a boring hotel to stay in for a family wedding outside of Charleston. My kids were set on a beach house, but I'm a procrastinator so by the time we booked, that wasn't really an option for the weekend. The whole family ended up being SO glad we stayed here. It was like Shangri-la for us as nature lovers and for me as a person that also loves to be in the woods and by water. It's an old fish camp on the river that has been renovated and updated. So comfortable with everything you need - updated appliances, plenty of kitchen space, comfy beds - but our favorite part was the screened-in porch living area that was located in the middle of the house. There are plenty of games provided as well that the family enjoyed playing on the porch every night. We also loved the stocked fish pond - both for catch and release and for a safe place for the small ones to kayak and canoe on their own. (Our swimming dog loved it as well.) The view of the river and the sounds and stargazing at night are amazing. You are out "in the country" so either pack food in accordingly or plan to make a run to the grocery store in Summerville about 25 minutes away. The host/owner was actually around staying across the pond and working on another house adjacent to the property for part of the time we were there - super friendly and helpful! Glad we got to meet him while we were there. We literally did not want to leave and are already planning to come back when we can! Thank you for having us!
!
The beauty of the river and the cypress trees supersedes the funky convenience of the hunting lodge/luxury accommodations, but the beds were so comfortable, the kitchen so well- equipped that it’s difficult to select one “best thing”.
This was a great location to gather with extended family. Modern and rustic. Loved the large open kitchen with a bar that seated 7. Included pretty much everything to cook our own meals. Spent a lot of time playing games and foosball on the large, screened porch. Kids loved the fire pit and making S'mores. Was really nice to have kayaks and canoes onsite with life jackets. Big hammock that was a favorite spot to rest & relax away from the cabin. Everyone loved it! Be prepared to drive at least 15-30 minutes to get groceries, supplies, nearest restaurants, etc. Approx. 1 hour to airport or beaches. Overall, 9 out of 10!
The property and host are great! The host was very responsive and offered plenty of recommendations for activities etc. The layout of the house is very unique and the giant screened-in porch being central is the perfect hang out spot. We spent a lot of time on kayaks and canoes provided going just up the river to a protected cove. Perfect for kids. Would definitely recommend to anyone and we hope to be back.
We had 5 incredible days. The accommodations were perfect. We fished, boated, and floated the river. Dustin was an excellent host and was very quick to get back to us anytime we had a question.
The house was just what we needed and the screened in porch was amazing. We wanted a place away from everything and we found it here! We fished, grilled, fire pit, stargazing, and best of all we just got to enjoy each other's company. The kitchen had everything we needed with alot of extras. The 3 main rooms gave everyone there own privacy. We will be back soon.
The description and pictures on the listing are just how it is when you see it in person. That's one thing we always worry about.
The Edisto River Lodge is a wonderful retreat into nature. The sights and sounds are soul soothing. The lodge is charmingly rustic. The yard is beautifully landscaped and particularly stunning at night. There are indoor and outdoor games a plenty! The kitchen is well stocked with all the utensils and tools you could need. All the beds were comfy. I would happily stay again!
This place is more serene and beautiful in person than the pics online, if you are looking for a super clean, well appointed getaway, don’t pass this one up….we will be back!
We really enjoyed our stay. Everyone had a great time. We were disappointed the dock was not usable. For the price we feel like we should have had a dock.
The lodge sits beside the Edisto River and the natural reserve. It is very clean, quiet, and well maintained with a lot of lovely details. The host equipped us with everything we need to enjoy our one-week vacation (life jackets, games, and plenty of wood...) We went fishing, played the Foosball, canoed, tossed the bean bag, lighted the campfire...and made a lot of family memories together. The children also thought the three chickens are super cute. We greatly appreciate Dustin's responsiveness and thoughtfulness as well as the beautiful photographs on the wall taken by him!
Originally had 8 going 2 backed out so had 6.Beautiful River House.Only 5 beds & 1 guy slept on couch.Dock on River had 2 foot walkway with no Rails & 12’ to water & Rocks.Had to be a Olympic Gymnast to walk the plank! way overpriced for what we received! if we had 8 midgets we all would have had a Bed...
This is a quiet getaway with serene surroundings and a nice cabin to stay. If you want to get away from the city rush to a quiet place, it can't get any better than this. Dustin is fantastic and very accessibe over the phone or email. The sound of crickets and river flowing along with the lush green surrounding was just what we were looking for . Definitely will visit again
Group of kayaking friends, love this place. It’s laid out perfect for friends who want to be together but not on top of each other. It has everything you need for a good time, the owner is very thoughtful with very nice and thoughtful touches. Would love to visit again. The grounds are beautiful!
This property was wonderful. The fishing was great, the kids and adults loved the canoes and kayaks, I spent lovely time reading in the hammock, and there were plenty of indoor and outdoor games. The perks of this property are the location on the river, the stocked fish pond, everything we needed was already there other than personal fishing equipment, the firepit and aderondack chairs made excellent outdoor fun (we even did hot hogs and smores over the fire one evening), the kitchen is an excellent fisherman’s kitchen, and the kids loved the large outdoor porch and tv in the evenings. The chicken coop was another perk. My boys love the outdoors-so it was a while nderful get away. The kids have asked to go back soon. We really enjoyed our stay!!
We had an amazing time at Dustin's place. Took advantage of the great patio and fireplace, canoes and kayaks. Everybody loved it, there was plenty of room and it was super comfortable. Dustin was great and we couldn't have asked for a better experience! Can't wait to go back!
