Had a great stay and the pooches hung out on the patio with me in the evening. The location is convenient for exploring the Lexington area and going for rides in horse country. If I am ever back in the area I will for sure stay here again.
We enjoyed our time at the property. The owners were very accomidating and extremely friendly. We hope to come back soon and will probably reserve this house again unless we bring more guests.
We had a great time disconnecting from phones and sitting by the pond and taking in the beautiful views.
Yet, we were still close enough to drive to restraunts and places to eat.
We loved everything about our stay here and can’t wait to return 😊 Hosts are wonderful people and loved the pups Esther, Cooper, and little Lila❤️❤️❤️ This is a must stay location
My twin sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We came to see horses and discovered just relaxing at the property was just as memorable. Mr. Cooper the Mastiff, and the schnauzers were wonderful. They're very well mannered and a joy to be around. We'd love to come back again and definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet, scenic and relaxing experience.
Visting The Ark Encounter and Museum of the Bible.
Our stay at Madison County was everything we expected . Vanessa is a wonderful host and very friendly. The apartment was very comfortable and we had everything we needed for our stay. I would come back again.
Roomy downstairs apartment with a fully stocked kitchen and a fantastic view. Friendly hosts and even friendlier dogs: Ester and Cooper -- a pair of bullmastiffs who were gentle and well trained and liked hanging out with us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.
We made a very last minute decision to get away for the weekend only 2 days prior. That weekend happened to be available, and check-in was swift. I thought the spaced looked better in person than online, and was very spacious (2 of us), yet cozy. There was plenty of space for a family, or even a group. Beds and furniture were extremely comfortable. We used both the indoor fireplace and the outside fire pit, as we're used to having fires nightly, especially outdoors when it snows. I brought camping folding chairs which we used, as the outdoor furniture by the pit needs to be tossed and replaced, which probably will be come warmer weather. The back porch (although we didn't use), is a nice outdoor space with all the accessories you would need for cooking/eating outside. The homeowners were super friendly and immediately available for any needs. Reviews mentioned lack of sharp steak knifes which we found to be true so bought some while we were there and donated them to the house. The toilet is also what was described in reviews. There is a trick to it...It's a farm so....just flush it twice...It works fine. The dogs were friendly, but mostly kept inside, so don't let that be a deterrent if you're not a dog person. The location was great. We loved that we were in the country on a farm (yes, there are horses) and still close to where we spent our days hiking at Berea College Forestry. This is insane for the price. We will be back.
This place was so wonderfully quiet and relaxing. We had planned to use this as a home-base for various day trips. Unfortunately one of us had a health issue before our trip and the doc said “rest!” So we cut out all but one day trip (gotta see at least one distillery, amirite?). The rest of the time we watched the sunrise and then we watched the moonrise. We took naps and wandered into town for food. (Tip: Stay away from the Thai restaurant-bleh). The porch and the swing by the lake were our favorite hangouts; our third favorite place is the luscious furniture in the living room.
The kitchen has everything you need to cook a meal. I baked a birthday cake. I always advise bring your own knives if you plan to cut anything. My experience has been 100% chance of dull knives in the kitchen.
There are three loving, slobbery wonderful mastiffs on the property and they will claim you as their own. Big ole love muffins! Just prepare for the big puppy eyes to melt your hearts. The owner will contain them if you don’t want to bother with them. But gosh, how can you not!
The shower has perfect water pressure and nice and hot. The toilet sort of talks back at you, which we never really got used to. But it did the job, so no complaints. There are thick, soft bath towels and a comfortable bed.
I would say the only con is the WiFi was pretty sketchy. We made do just fine, but there were times it was spotty. Also, it could do with a kitty on the property.
We enjoyed the property and it was very clean and decorated nicely. My grandson and I had a blast fishing and caught a couple fish. My husband and I enjoyed the dogs very much and they hung out with us while we enjoyed a fire one evening. My 4 year old grandson loved Lila, however Cooper was a bit aggressive towards him when he would run around and play. Cooper got used to him a little bit by the end of the weekend but we still had to keep a close eye anytime he would make quick movements. One of the property owners said Cooper doesn’t like fast movements or small Children. I never felt like Cooper would hurt him or bite him but the lunging and barking scared my grandson a lot. I appreciate that the owners include info about the dogs in their description, however it might be a good idea to include this about small children. If we visit this property again we would probably leave our small children at home.
The host are wonderful people. The property is beautiful, and very peaceful. The interior decor is so amazing. Our time there was such a wonderful stay. Thank you Vanessa for sharing your place with us. We had a wonderful time. Lila and Cooper are 2 wonderful dogs she has there. I liked loving on them during our stay. If you are looking for a relaxing and stress free getaway. Look no further. The property is amazing and well kept. There is plenty of room to stretch out and relax. Small amazing pond on the property that has a bench swing next to it where you can sit, relax and watch the sun come up. Overall just an amazing experience. Anyone looking for a place to get away from it all this is it. It is in the country but not too far away from town. There is shopping centers just a few minutes away to get things you need for your stay. I would give 10 stars if I could. Just a superb place to be to get away from the hustle and bustle of life.
Thanks again Vanessa for allowing us the chance to relax and visit family.
The property is as described and served our needs well. The sign on the gate is hilarious although it has us double and triple checking that we were in the right place.
If you are afraid of dogs, this is not the place for you, but the 2 mastiffs were sweet and my daughter loved them. The only negative I could think to mention was the cigarette smoke smell in the apartment, but that wouldn't be enough to keep us from staying there again!
I did not get a chance to check out the garden nor pond because I was not at the property for long periods of time and it was extremely hot during my stay.
It's a spacious, beautiful space that is comfortable and relaxing.
We came down for Memorial Day. I did not want to stay in a hotel. I wanted to give a local my business. After talking found out Vanessa knows my cousin so we all laughed so hard. They are great people and don’t book my weekends 😂
Lovely, spacious accommodations, with all the necessities and a little more. Gracious host with a fun sense of humor. Lots of beauty in this place. The internet was less than reliable, but other than that, we were quite comfortable.
If you’re craving something calming, welcoming and beautiful this is the place for you. Get ready to enjoy the ease of settling in and relaxing. Filled with all things that make days brighter with all the amenities extras and little touches that makes it feel like home. We truly enjoyed our stay.
The pooch pies were so sweet what a wonderful addition to the comfort and relaxation. Cooper, Lila and Esther were truly a pleasure. Thank you for sharing them with is during our stay.
Our experience with these rental owners couldn’t have been better. They were great responsive hosts, and the property was everything promised - a very comfortable apartment in a beautiful location.
