Brookside is a spacious detached dales holiday cottage that provides tranquil accommodation for up to 7 people situated in a quiet location off a farm track a stone’s throw from the village green in Langthwaite, Arkengarthdale - the most northernly Dale of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
This charming cottage is full of character, and features original exposed beams, real wood floor and is perfect for exploring this idyllic and less frequented part of the Yorkshire Dales. Langthwaite itself, is a picturesque dales village surrounded by breath taking scenery. You may recognise the local area from the original All Creatures Great and Small television series. There are two pubs within walking distance of the cottage. The Red Lion, a quirky dales pub with a renowned Yorkshire landlady - a fountain of knowledge on the area. In the opposite direction is the CB Inn, a popular pub serving gastro pub meals, fine wines, real ales and has a large gin menu.
This wonderful 3 bedroomed cottage for 7 people has a large drive for up to 3 cars, an outdoor seating area with picnic bench overlooking the farmland to the rear of the property. Inside there is a characterful dining room featuring the exposed beams and original fireplace with exposed bricks. A modern kitchen with plenty of workspace and ample storage. There is also a small table in the kitchen making this a lovely place for cooking and eating for smaller groups. There is also an entrance hall at the rear door offering the ideal place to kick of your muddy boots after a day in the great outdoors. The living room is also on the ground floor and offers comfortable seating surrounding the open fire and smart tv.
Upstairs the 3 bedrooms comprise of a master bedroom with king bed, a twin bedroom overlooking the farmland to the rear of the cottage and the third bedroom is spacious and bright comprising of a single bed and bunk beds. The family bathroom is on the first floor with a shower cubicle, bath, basin and w.c.
This holiday cottage also has the bonus of a garage for secure bike storage. It is heated throughout by oil fired central heating and free WIFI is available throughout the cottage. Brookside is also dog friendly, up to two well behaved dogs are welcome.
There is plenty to offer straight from the door. Don’t forget your walking boots, the fantastic views are sure to inspire a hike or two. From the high-level hikes up Fremington Edge or Calver Hill to the lower-level walks along the riverbank there really is something for everyone! Also, keep your eyes peeled for the great variety of birds and wildlife we have in the area, from Osprey’s, sandpipers to Lapwings, Pheasants, and Grouse to name a few. You might even be lucky to see some deer in the nearby woods.
If travelling out on two wheels is more your thing, then there is plenty to offer for both road and off-road cyclists. Be sure to explore the many off road routes featuring remains from the mining era that once thrived in the area. Or on road, take on the Tan Hill loop and finish off at the highest pub in England the Tan Hill, before enjoying the downhill ride back to the cottage.
Located close to the popular village of Reeth and with market towns such as Hawes, Leyburn, Richmond, Barnard Castle and Kirby Stephen all within easy reach this really is an ideal location to explore the Northern Dales.

Getting there
• From A1: turn off at Scotch Corner to Richmond
• In Richmond take the A6108 and then B6270 to Reeth
• Travel through the village until you reach the Buck Hotel and then take the
right turn signposted Langthwaite
• Continue on this same road to Langthwaite
• When you arrive in Langthwaite you shall see the small village green (High
Green) with a bench
• To the left of the green is a track
• Take this track and Brookside it the last cottage on your right.
• There is a gravelled drive and a paved area in front of the garage for 1 - 3 cars.

There is three small step to access the cottage.
There is a standard staircase to the first floor with a sturdy handrail.
The shower cubicle has a small step to step over.
