This pretty, semi-detached, Grade II listed cottage is a short stroll from the cobbled market square, right in the heart of historic Richmond. Lovingly restored with a blend of traditional features and modern amenities, it even has the added benefit of a cosy wood burner and carefully chosen modern furnishings. An enclosed, paved courtyard is just the place to relax after a day exploring the region.
The light and airy country kitchen, complete with hand-painted bespoke units, modern appliances and a Belfast sink, makes for the perfect place to rustle up supper. The dining room with its rustic oak table and benches looks out onto the courtyard through French doors, while the living room makes for a perfect place to curl up in front of the wood burner and enjoy a glass of wine. A large, wall-mounted Smart TV is provided for your entertainment. Upstairs, a good nights’ rest is guaranteed. The cottage accommodates up to five guests in three bedrooms, with a kingsize master bedroom with a Smart TV and window seat, a twin room with a Smart TV, and a smaller single room, all of which have comfy beds and mattresses, snuggly duvets and crisp cotton bed linen.
Perfectly placed, you could simply park up the car and enjoy all that Richmond has to offer on foot. With an excellent choice of eating places, pubs and tea rooms, wander the cobbled streets and enjoy the eclectic mix of shops. Directly across the road is a Georgian theatre offering a variety of entertainment. Walk through the market square and visit the famous Norman castle. Circular walks around the riverbanks take you past The Station, a bustling centre hosting art and craft exhibitions, a three-screen cinema, café, a shop selling interesting jewellery, cards and textiles, a bakery/delicatessen, micro-brewery and an ice cream parlour. On the same site there is an indoor swimming pool and health club.
Pinfold Cottage has an enviable position in both town and country and sits at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, well placed to visit Swaledale, Wensleydale and the North York Moors National Park. The Coast to Coast walk passes by The Station and through Swaledale, but there are also many other walks to be enjoyed. Nearby Reeth is a good starting point for walks and cycling. The Buttertubs Pass offers an exhilarating route over moorland to Hawes in Wensleydale where you can visit the Wensleydale Creamery and try Wallace and Gromit’s favourite cheese. Leyburn is a charming town with a Friday market in the main square and nearby Middleham has a magnificent castle and is also well known for its racing stables. There are a number of waterfalls in the area including Hardraw Force near Hawes, known for its height, and pretty Aysgarth Falls which featured in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.
