The flat is located in Afantou suburbs, a quiet, residential area with mostly summer houses. 300m away you can find a wide range of cafes and restaurants. The center of Afantou town is 1,3m away and there you can find supermarkets, bank, pharmacy and shops. The seafront summer area of Kolymbia is just 400m. There is a bus stop at 200m. The nearest beach is only 600m away and the famous golf course of Afantou just 1,3km.
• Afantou area and village
The village of Afandou is located 5Km from Faliraki, and it is one of the largest and oldest villages on the Island of Rhodes. Set against a lavish setting of fruit and olive trees, the village is also famous for its carpet manufacturers. Its population is approximately 7.500 people. Practically anything you may need can be found there, as there are stores and shops of any kind.
If you chance through the village, it is essential to visit the church of Our Lady, right next to the settlement’s main square. Right there on this square, you will be able to meet many locals, who are very hospitable, and also carry a very characteristic accent.
There is a permanent folk art exhibition hosted in the village which, during the summer months, is connected to the beach by small a road-train. The beach of Afandou is by all accounts vast! It extends to a length of over 3Km offering crystal-clear waters and unconditional tan possibilities to sunlight worshipers.
On the far left side of the beach, where the shore ends, you will find areas with rocks and caves, which are suitable for the most adventurous amongst you! You should also not neglect to visit the unique church of Our Lady Katholiki.
The church is decorated with frescoes dating from the 17th Century. Dedicated to Holy Mary, this church holds its celebration day in August, with a huge religious and folklore festival definitely worth attending. In August the church celebrates and a big religious festival is being held.
The golf court - Afandou Golf - is also located close to the village.
