My stay at Kex Hostel was great! The staff were friendly and really helpful, which made the experience even better. The location is perfect — close to everything you need in Reykjavík. One of the best parts was the social atmosphere; it’s a fantastic place to meet new people from all over the world. This was my first ever hostel stay, and I fear that Kex set my expectations way too high. The place was beautifully decorated, and was very clean. The staff was super friendly and upgraded us to a nicer room for free! The place was also super close to a bunch of great restaurants, coffee shops, and is right next to the water.

The hostel is in a nice location with great view, fun decor, very walkable area despite the construction happening currently, and the facilities were kept clean and in good condition. Beyond the cleanliness and convenience, the staff were really kind and went out of their way to help out. Especially appreciated free luggage storage for a bit after check out while waiting for transport to airport, and the loan of a few travel essentials I'd forgotten.

It was quite dirty, ended up walking barefoot for less than 5 mins and my feet were black. The walls were also paper thin, we could hear people cooking down the hall. Staff was nice and the price point reflects the conditions I suppose, but I would stay elsewhere next time.
