Considering Baron’s is a hostel, my teen and I felt safe and comfortable during our 2 night stay. The hostel was clean and offered us everything we needed. The location is fantastic. Parking is free. We went to the affordable pool / hot tubs next door and loved them.
Baron’s hostel was amazing for the most part. The only issues I had with it was the elevator is the only access point but at one point the elevator broke/ needed maintenance so accessing the building was difficult. The other thing was the smell was a little disturbing but overall it was a great place and easy to walk around and have as a living access point in Iceland!
Kitchen and dining area good and clean. Staff very approachable and willing to help. Location is very near to grocery stores Bonus and Extra. Also, very near Hallgrimskirkja.

Liked: Staff & service, amenities
Staffs are friendly and helpful; kitchen is convenient. But rooms’ doors make so much noise that I can’t sleep in the night
First experience with a hostel. I had a single room which was nice. Fairly quiet-was next to the elevator so did have some noise from that. Kitchen area had a great view. People respectful. Easy walk to bus stop 8.
This is a good option to stay in town. Everything else is very expensive. The place has a share kitchen and dinning room area which helps saving money on food if you are willing to prepare your own food since restaurants are very expensive in the area. Bathroom and showers are clean as well as beds. 3 blocks away from the main street in town. Safe and quiet at night. Overall, a good option. Thank you!
It’s close to the famous church and rainbow street .

Typical Hostel setup
Typical hostel, but hotel prices (welcome to Iceland). Bare minimum in rooms. Shared bathrooms/toilets also pretty basic. No place for clothing, hooks broken off. Shared kitchen with everything needed. Not really any lounge area.
The staff for check in was wonderful, he came with me to confirm where I parked was ok. The entrance was around the back which was confusing, there are 2 different hostels in the building. It is very close to the church and the main downtown. The bed and linens were comfortable and was lovely to see a towel. Iceland is expensive and this was the most I have ever paid for a hostel! Still a fantastic 1 day layover, I will be back!
