This unique space in a renovated 1913 home in Historic Trinity Park has evolved from the grand ground floor of a home, to art gallery, to nonprofit office, to 1700sf apartment.
It features large rooms, high ceilings, and lots of natural light, as well as a kitchenette to make basic meals - though with your proximity to Durham's great restaurants, you won't be doing much cooking!
Enjoy the pool in season(generally June-October)!
Pet friendly.
Historic Trinity Park is one of Durham’s most sought-after neighborhoods, both for its historic architecture and prime location. The tree lined streets connect to parks, Duke’s East campus, and right to the heart of downtown. I love that I can enjoy the peace and quiet on my street, and within a 5 minute walk be in the middle of everything.
You'll have the whole apartment to yourself, along with a private front porch, private screened porch in the back yard, and shared access to the deck, pool and patio.
The driveway is for loading and unloading only, but there is plenty of free street parking.
You can expect all the hallmarks of a 100-year old home: high ceilings, beautiful molding, wood floors and lots of natural light. The 1700sf space includes a generous dining room, spacious living room, screened porch, two desk spaces for working at home, 3 bedrooms and lovely sunroom (flex space or additional sleeping capacity).
The kitchenette includes microwave, induction cooktops, coffee maker, small fridge and sink. Plus: there's a gas grill out back!
The backyard is fully fenced and includes a pool - all shared between the 4 apartments in the house. The pool (and zipline!) is available seasonally - typically June-October, as pool is not heated - at your own risk. Please check in with us for actual open dates. NOTE: as of July 2022 - pool is repaired and open!
Pets are welcome in the backyard as well, however they are not permitted to be left out without owner.
* PLEASE NOTE: The commercial district is a block away from this apartment and is coming back to life! That includes bars frequented by local students - and means that on the weekends street traffic, music and bar noise can be loud into the early hours.
This is one of four apartments in the house, so there may be other guests in or around the pool area, and you may hear footsteps or occasional noises from above (but not after quiet hours).
And finally, the house and pool were built a long time ago, so they have plenty of "charm" (but most guests don't mind ;-).
Note: There is no TV
As stated in the house rules, there is an automatic minimum $250 service fee for any violations of house rules that require additional cleaning and/or cause damage. This is our home. We have tried to make it comfortable for you and for us, and have been thoughtful in the amenities we provide. We appreciate you for exercising the same level of thought and care when staying here.
While we are happy to host families, please note that the house is not “child-proofed,” nor do we provide any child-focused amenities (no crib, pack-n-play, high chair, etc).
We do ask that guests are relatively quiet after 10 PM, as a courtesy to neighbors. Please note that it's an old house, and sound does travel through floors & walls. Parties and loud groups are not permitted. Thanks for helping us be good neighbors.
Smoking or vaping of any substances is not permitted on the premises.
Well-behaved pets are welcome, and must be registered with the reservation. There is a pet fee.
Reservations longer than 29 nights may incur additional fees.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, guests are expected to abide by CDC/WHO guidelines, as well as all North Carolina and Durham Covid-19 guidelines. Full up-to-date orders can be seen at ncdotgov.
