Great location with easy access to town and parks. Can't say enough about this property. Our dog enjoyed being able to roam around the fenced area. We would definitely recommend staying here.
This is the sixth or seventh year we've stayed here - and it is fabulous. They've updated it this year and it was perfect before - now it's even better. We will be back
We have tried so hard to find a place to stay that accommodates more than one dog, since we have three and we would hate to leave one out. Take a Paws was perfect! Despite us Floridians not being totally prepared for below freezing weather, we had a fantastic stay! There’s just something about waking up in the cold on Christmas morning. The home is located in a great spot with a spectacular view right in the Black Rock Mountain state Park. We did a small waterfall hike there. Our third day, we took a little drive to Helen to do the tourist stuff and then another trip to the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. Totally worth the hour and a half trip! 11/10 would recommend. On our last night, we went down to Moonrise Distiller and grabbed pizza from Fortify Pi, which both blew us away. We recommend the Samurai Pi, you won’t be disappointed!
Overall, we had a beautiful family vacation with our fur babies. Thank you for the great communication and wonderful accommodations. I have a feeling we will be back!
Very comfortable beautiful cabin. This was our 2nd visit and will absolutely go back again. Its quiet and relaxing but close to lots of activities if you want. Great stay!
New renovations are great and work did not interfere with the experience. View was beautiful, homestead had ample room for vehicles, great property to explore, and neighborhood was great to drive around. In driving distance of great sites to see. Great communication with any questions or issues. Homes were cozy.
AMAZING view! This place has a great view overlooking the mountains. We enjoyed exploring the area and hiking. We saw some bears and her cubs on our first day. The cabin is spacious and beautiful. You have to see it in person. The pictures don’t do the view and cabin justice.
This is our fifth year I think being at this house and we love it. It has everything we need. The yard is fenced so the dogs can roam freely. The hosts are wonderful people who are easy to deal with. Already reserved the house for next year!
My fourth stay at Take a Paws.. gets better each time! Host/Owner is great, home is beautiful, comfortable, amazing Mountain View’s and our dogs love it. Will be back next year. Thank you for another memorable stay❤️
2 adults & 3 children 14, 12 & 7.
Very roomy overall.
Living space: Living room, dining table, kitchen, screened porch, expansive deck, level, ample parking area with covered parking if needed. Plus separate one bedroom house.
Had everything needed. We cooked a couple of meals. We enjoyed sitting on the deck enjoying the absolutely fabulous view.
Joe responded immediately & sent someone to adjust heat / AC units.
With all the features allowing for living & sleeping flexibility, we can see why this property is so popular.
Great experience staying at your cabin! Owner quickly answered any questions we had. The fenced property was absolutely perfect for our 3 furry friends. They were in “hog heaven”. Because they were so relaxed, our people experiences were even better! We will definitely book this jewel many times!
We were so happy to return to Take a Paws for a week with kids and dogs. The kids all love hanging out in the Dog House, and the adults love hanging out in the main house, on the deck by the firepit, and on the screened porch. You just can't stop staring at the view. It's breathtaking. The location is perfect - around the corner from Black Rock Mtn SP and easy ride down the mountain to Dillard, Clayton, Highlands, and more! We returned to some old favorites (Goats on the Roof, snow tubing at Scaly, whiskey tasting at RM Rose, patio dining at U Joint, date night at Fortify Kitchen, pre-hike lunch at Fortify Pi) and tried some new places - zip lining at Sunburst Adventures, donuts at the Farmhouse, dinner at Julep Farms, whiskey tasting at Moonrise, and our new favorite - wine tasting at Stonewall Creek Vineyards. We hiked new spots too - Rabun Bald, Hemlock Falls, Warwoman Dell, and Ada-Hi Falls. We can't wait to return!
This property and the whole experience was perfect. Gorgeous view and close to so many things to do. The owner Joe checked in to make sure we had everything we needed and was always available if we had questions. We will definitely be going here again.
This is our fifth or sixth year to stay here and it is perfect for us. The grandkids each have a space off the master suite with their parents using the master suite and upstairs is perfect for me. And the dogs loving roaming in the fenced area. We've already made our reservations for next year.
The views are amazing. There is great hiking in the area, plus lots of rafting and good food. The owners are in contact and are really nice people who want your stay to be excellent. Best of all, it's dog friendly with fencing around the entire property, so the dogs can just go out and explore or relax on the deck with us. We highly recommend this property and the destination.
Third stay at Take A Paws and planning the forth. Joe, the owner maintains excellent communication via text, making sure we had everything we needed and were enjoying his beautiful, comfortable home. Views are the best on Block Rock Mountain and our fur babies always enjoy the large fenced yard. Thank you for another memorable vacation.
This was our first stay at this amazing property, but it won't be our last. Let me start by saying - the pictures do not do this place justice. The views are spectacular. The cabin and surrounding grounds are very nicely done. We are sticklers for cleanliness, and this is one of the cleanest places we have ever stayed. The recliners in the living room have been updated and are very comfortable. The screened porch and deck are very expansive and relaxing, and did I mention the views? Roads are paved all the way except for the last couple of turns, which were on gravel roads, but only for a short distance. It is an easy ten-minute drive to get into town and to the many restaurants and shops in the area. In addition, there is plenty of room to park several vehicles and to turn around by the house, which is unusual for these types of properties. The covered parking between the house and the guest house is very convenient for loading and unloading in inclement weather. All the bedrooms are large. The bed in the master bedroom is firm but comfortable. The master closet is huge, with plenty of hangars available for use. The library off the master bedroom is a great place to sit and read. The kitchen is large and well-equipped. The fenced yard allowed our Yorkie room to roam without having to be on a leash. The house is well-built and well-insulated. Usually when we stay in cabins we can hear the wind whistling and the cabin creaking, but even though it was very windy the one day, everything remained quiet in the house. And did I mention the views? The cabin is oriented more north-south, so you do not get sunrise or sunset views, but this north-south orientation allows you to have shaded seating on the deck at all times of the day - perfect for those warm summer days. We enjoyed the multi-layered mountain views, which are accentuated in the early morning sun, and the classic early morning low-cloud Smoky Mountain views. Joe was very attentive - checking in several times via text to make sure everything was great with our stay. In short, we loved our time at this fabulous property, and we can't wait to come back.
This is our second stay at Take a Paws and it was great. The view is amazing and the house is cozy and inviting. We enjoyed the proximity to the state parks.
This is our third stay at Take a Paws and have at least one more planned. It is a lovely spot with excellent views and such a large fenced area for our dogs. Joe is a great owner who cares.
We had a great time at this cabin. It was a perfect location outside of Clayton but not too far when we needed something from town. So close to the state park also. We traveled to Dillard and Highland to see waterfalls and hiking. The Cabin had everything we needed including a hugh master bedroom and bath, even a library. The main area was super cozy for us with good reception. The host, Joe, was friendly and helpful. Most of all, the view was just lovely. We relaxed in the chairs on the deck while amazed at the view. We hope to return. This is the first review I have written and was easy to do so.
The cabin is very easy to find. GPS got us there easily, no steep or scary roads at all. The cabin was spotless, beautifully decorated, very comfortable and fully equipped with everything we needed. The owner, Joe was very nice and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The beds are very comfortable, kitchen very modern, and there is a flat screen TV in the living room with every app and channel you can think of! Wait until you see the view! Pictures on VRBO do not do it justice! We can’t wait to come back!!
