If you are looking for peace, beauty and tranquility then the Quarry House may be just the place. Nestled in the little outport of Cobb's Arm (approximately 15 minutes to Twillingate), you can view the ocean and sunset, take a stroll through history or simply relax and enjoy the comfort of outport Newfoundland.
The space
Once it was determined that Cobb's Arm could sustain the demand for "quick lime", permanent roots just had to be established. The site would need absolute water access and deep water at the dock to ensure efficient and safe loading of the numerous schooners that would carry the quick lime to the Price's paper mill in Grand-Falls.
After surveying the shoreline it was paramount that the chosen site be fitted with a dock, storage facility, factory and headquarters to manage it all.
Quarry House was built in 1942, for the Superintendent of the Newfoundland Lime Company. It is constructed in the Cape Cod style and retains much of its original craftsman woodwork which is most predominant in the staircase.
The four bedroom house has been recently renovated with all the common amenities to make the stay enjoyable, and is just a stones throw from the water.
