Play and Stay on Put in Bay!

Put in Bay, also know as South Bass Island has been called the Key West of the North. It is an island located in the western basin of Lake Erie and is reached by ferry from Port Clinton, Catawba or Sandusky. You can bring a car although the taxi service and golf cart rentals are a great way to get around. Put in Bay is definitely a fun loving place. The summer weekends are noted for the many taverns and nightlife, however during the weekdays and off season, it's a great place to relax with family and friends. There's history with Perry's monument, a lighthouse, butterfly house, wineries, a state park for lake swimming and fishing, a public golf course, jet ski rentals, miniature golf, or just enjoying the scenery at DeRiveria Park! After a busy day you can relax in the new development pool or just soak in the garden tub with a good book. Our home has two decks, great for relaxing and kicking back. On a quiet night you can hear the waves!

Fishing in Put in Bay
Nice space for 6 adults. Very comfortable furnishings and layout. Good size deck on front and back. Too bad they are not clear of debris before arrival. Tough parking more than one truck and boat. All the other house guests near by were great.

Excellent Weekend Getaway
My husband and I have stayed at different rentals at the Island club, and I would definitely recommend this home. Everything was clean and in good working order. Perfect place for couples or a family.

Fun Girls Week!
We had a great time enjoying the Island and then having a comfortable and quiet place to come back to. Enjoyed the pool right in the complex we were staying. Thankful for a full kitchen and grill to use. Would recommend this house!

The property was THE PERFECT LOCATION—off the beaten path but easy to get to downtown—LOVE THE ISLAND CLUB BUS!!! Marie is very easy to communicate with and gets right back to you with any questions!! We will be back for a visit FOR SURE!!

Enjoyed put in bay. First time visiting. The house needs floors and doors fixed. Ants in the kitchen. Decks need replacing as well. Over all enough space and nice location.

Great time
It was my first weekend rental and not being very tech savy I was a bit nervous. Everything went without a hitch! We had a wonderful time exploring Put-in Bay and the rental had everything we needed. We will certainly do it again.

Family Vacation
I was pleased with the place. It's in a quit neighborhood and I enjoyed sitting on the decks. We went fishing several times from the bank and caught several catfish, bass, rock bass and perch. You'll wanna rent a golf cart as it seems to be the easiest way to get around the island. My only complaint about the stay was that I ran out of propane on the grill after only using it one time.

The house was clean but needs updated. The decks were covered in branches and leaves. We cleaned it up but they say check in is at 4 the expectation is for it to be clean inside and out. Other than that we had an awesome time!

The location was nice. The house was set in back of development. Plenty of room for the 3 of us. We had a wonderful time. Was disappointed in the cleanliness. Bathroom walls and house floors were very dirty. Turned our feet black. The house is run down and needs upgrades. Also the dishes were not clean.

Great place for a quick family visit to the island
Needed a stopping point on the way to Chicago to see a ball game. Always wanted to go to the National Park Service site on the island so this was perfect. Not familiar with the island at all so trusted the listing and it paid off. Not luxurious but plenty of room, clean, and close to everything we wanted to see. Host was extremely responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay there again! (Wasn't planning on renting golf cart, but when we got there changed out mind. Rented through Island Club community. Delivered to house and we could leave it there for pickup when we left. Super easy!)

Excellent stay for a Bachelor Party
There were 10 of us guys that stayed for the whole weekend! It was an awesome house away from the hustle and bustle of town. The check in process was simple, we were able to get in early, rented golf carts and ran back and forth to town. The house was very spacious and had a lot of room. We were not crowded at all. We packed a bag with miscellaneous things we thought we needed but the house had everything we needed! FYI there are 2 additional roll out beds in the closet that we had no idea about until the end of our stay. Would definitely rent again and highly recommend to others.

This property is covered in cobwebs and there are a lot of bugs. My friend had a spider on her when she woke up. Shower had an old bar of soap with someone else's hair attached, our feet were black from walking barefoot. I reached out to the owner who just thanked me for letting her know, no apology or attempt to mend the situation.

When we first got to the property there were two trash bags of what I think were towels and bedsheets. The house had confetti all over it and looked like it had not been cleaned. In the bathroom there was someone’s leftover bar of soap in the shower. When we went to takeout the trash today there was no room in the outside trashcan. We will be coming back to Put in Bay, but staying elsewhere.

The location was great. However, the house was not cleaned prior to our arrival. There was hair covering the sink, dead bugs in the tub and hair clogging the shower which prevented the use of it because it wouldn’t drain… it was difficult to call due to the poor reception and there were no other places to stay for the weekend we were here. The floors were not swept and there was still food on the carpets. And trash from bathroom was not taken out. The renting process was quick and easy and I hate to leave a negative review but it was significantly dirty in the home.

Extremely dirty!! Party area!!
When I say extremely dirty…I mean do not take off your shoes! All of our feet were immediately black after getting out of the shower. Cobwebs, hair on toilet, stains on curtains, trash can lid was untouchable, etc. Thankfully, we brought our own pillows, blankets, and sheets. Blankets and pillows were supplied (not sheets), but after seeing the cleanliness of the house…or lack of, I would not use theirs. I did let the property owner know and told her that I could send pictures. She didn’t want the pictures and said she would let the cleaners know. Extremely disappointing property for the extreme amount of money we spent to stay here for the weekend. We definitely would not book this property again.

Needs Updating/Poor Response Time
Stayed here with friends on the last week of July. The property is fine for what it is, but If I were to come back I would just look for a similar place with different management. The place is in bad need of updates but it doesn't look like there has been a dime put back into the property in 20 years. The bunk-bed broke while we were there, I disagreed with why we were charged for it, but I respect the decision. What I don't respect is the fact that there was even a bed in the property that had a weight limit of 125 pounds, (not safe) and that it took 3 weeks and multiple un-replied emails to even get some of my security deposit back. I am sure this place makes good money for the season it would be nice if even 5% was put back into updates. Again, not a horrible place to stay and obviously the island is amazing, but for what you are paying you are better off finding more attentive people to rent from.
