The lodge is designed to blend into the environment while providing a relaxed and comfortable place to stay to explore Purnululu, aka the Bungle Bungles. The staff are very welcoming and helpful, the buffet style breakfasts and dinners were delicious. Tea and coffee are available 24/7 in the dining room. We enjoyed our afternoon coffee and evening drinks on the veranda and chose to eat dinner there beside the fire pit.
Accommodation is in individual cabins, with en-suite bathrooms, a short distance from the dining and living area. Furnishings are attractive and of high quality but minimal: comfortable bed, bedside tables, blanket box, and electric fan, two coat-hangers and a double power point. The en-suite bathroom was well equipped with extra shelves around the small vanity. There is no frig, kettle, iron or air conditioning in the rooms. The “windows” are gauze, no glass, with very well fitted louvre shutters. We were very grateful for the extra blanket in the blanket box.
The lodge offers ground transport to/from the airstrip as well as tours to allow guests to explore the north and south sections of Purnululu. Road access needs a high clearance four-wheel drive vehicle to navigate the very rough road and numerous creek crossings. It takes 2-3 hours to travel the 52km from the highway to the park entrance.
There is limited OPTUS connectivity in the park but no Telstra connectivity.
