Historic remodelled stable barn near nature conservation

This ground floor apartment has sweeping views of our fields, brook and pond from the windows of the kitchen/diner. Watch the horses graze while you eat your breakfast. The doors open to a private fenced patio with a gate opening to the garden. There's walking for your dogs from the farm to take you to the quintessential village of Thakeham with its pub and old church through ancient woodland. From there there is access to the South Downs National Park. The South Coast is 15 minutes drive and the Railway Station with access to London is 10 minutes away.
Fully heated and insulated for cosy winter stays too. All behind secure electric gates for privacy and security.

The stables
Wow !!!!! we loved the peaceful atmosphere of the property, right in the middle of the countryside surrounded by nature, it had everything and more inside from a well stocked kitchen/diner and comfy beds. We had family come to visit and there was plenty of room and the host was really lovely. We also brought our six month old puppy with us too and he loved it .

A lovely relaxing stay in our converted stable/barn
We stayed in this comfortable rustic barn conversion with south facing patio and glass doors overlooking the woods and fields for over 2 weeks. The kitchen was modern and well equipped. Comfortable lounges and beds. It was a short drive to typical English villages and the South Downs Way - views from Devil's Dyke were breathtaking and the restaurant/pub there superb! Petworth was a standout destination with lots of history and marvellous little shops. Alison was our perfect host - so friendly with lots of local knowledge. She gladly provided extra towels for our unexpected guest and nothing was too much trouble for her. A wonderful stay.

Perfectly located
The Old Stables is the perfect base to explore the South Downs and nearby coast. The property had everything we needed for our stay. We were unaware that there was a studio flat above and some of our neighbouring guests were a little heavy footed.

All I could ask for
The best get away place I could ask for. It was absolutely perfect break for me and kids. So quiet and public footpaths perfect for tranquil walks. The owner is the nicest person you will meet and my kids loved the stay. The cottage has everything you need and I was making 3 meals a day without any issues and actually really enjoyed staying indoors as the place is just so wonderful. Definitely will be coming back.

Family Time
We had a great few days at the cottage. There was plenty of space for 4 adults (mum, dad and kids of 21 and 18) and 2 dogs. The cottage was well equipped and the light into the kitchen/dining area was fabulous all day long. Alison was very friendly and answered all our enquiries quickly, both before and during our stay. It was an easy journey into Brighton and to the University of Sussex. We also went along the coast to Worthing and visited Arundel which was stunning. The walks from the cottage were also worthwhile with the dogs.

A lovely spot for a quiet break.
The cottage was lovely and cozy with plenty of space. All rooms are at ground level which was the main reason for choosing it as we had an elderly less mobile family member with us. A great location for accessing the spectacular surrounding area with plenty of walking for those who like to be active. Also there are plenty of nearby historic houses and gardens to visit and explore. Alison was a great hostess and in hand should there be a problem. In short we had a lovely few days and would recommend staying at the Old Stable to anyone wanting to get away from it all.

Lovely location
Lovely property, kitchen diner has full width glass doors looking out on garden and fields. Really comfortable beds with nice bedding. Public footpath across fields and through woodland. Only thing lacking was small freezer for quick meals, ice cream and lollies, larder fridge only. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Warm and spacious cottage with great views onto huge garden
Far enough off the nearby road to be completely tranquil, with a lovely kitchen/dining room overlooking a huge garden, giving onto further countryside. Lovely walks direct from the cottage to Old Thakeham and Warminghurst and close to both Petworth Park and Parham House as well as the South Downs Way. Nearby Amberley Museum an unexpected bonus. Owner Alison lovely and very approachable.

Nice
Very nice cottage furnished nicely all through. Very quiet location although you can hear upstairs guests. Kitchen/diner very big but lacking a freezer. TV could be better with free view as not many channels for a cold dark night sitting in. Plenty of board games to play which was fun. Beds are very comfortable, sofas not so. The weather curtailed our plans and would definitely return in better climes and times. Overall, lovely
