No frills accom
Once splended building. Room spacious. No WIFI in room. No AC only a small free standing fan not an issue on our stay. Had an English movie channel on TV. Mini fridge not working and smelt funky. Old furniture functional not best. Mattresses hard / unforgiving. Lacks black out curtain. Lack of proper hot water at any hour. Fantastic location close to bus station and amphitheatre. Good view of port from our room. Friendly (smokey) reception. OK for a couple of nights stay not badly priced for Croatia but no frills. Local area pretty can see main interest spots in 1/2 day. Weekend mid Sep was Festival of light - good fun in the evening. NB a lot of restaurants start packing up at 22:00 hrs.

I loved this hotel.
Ok, it is old and the decor is outdated, but it is Grand. I just pretended I was one of the elite in 1912 visiting the hotel. The hallways are super long and reminded us of the Shining movie, but we loved it. The breakfast included was perfect; all the coffee and juice you want, bread, meats, cheeses and fruit. Terrific location. Out side our vote was of the coliseum and the waterfront, you can't beat that!

Time Warp
Place seems stuck in an 80ies time warp. Probably grand in Yugoslav times, but since then only rudimentary repairs/refurb. Convenient to Pula's historic attractions and receptionist very friendly (only staff ever encountered).

I expected outdated accommodations, but this was was beyond any expectation. The building is grandiose, and it was only worth staying there for the staircase. The location is perfect for the ferry and perusing the Old-Town. When registering a couple passed by and said "good luck"; and when we got to our room, I understood why. The smell is horrible, beds had actual numbers on them 1 and 2... no a/c... do not open windows, because of the mosquitoes. We slept in clothing and were afraid to touch anything.

Historic building shame about the condition
Historically this is a lovely building, but it's out of date hotel facilities are extremely poor. No wifi in any rooms, bad bed, and a really bad smell in room. Its a real shame they have not kept this old hotel up to a good standard.

Does what it says on the tin!
We chose this hotel as is very close to ferry terminal. Is not expensive and location is great. It was very hot and we knew there was no air conditioning but the fan did a great job. We had read the reports of loads on mosquitoes in the room so we went prepared with a knock down spray and we did not see a single one:). The hotel is very dated and once would have been spectacular. We would stay here again as cheap and great location - but probably only for one night.

Questionable decor, outstanding location.
VERY dated decor in a once clearly very beautiful hotel. Housekeeping was good however, and the sense of dilapidation is actually quite charming, in a way. No wifi in the bedrooms, but the absolutely gorgeous sea view from the balcony was more than we could have asked for. Great value for money overall.

Sleepless sweaty night with mosquitoes
The building is pretty and old but there was no air-conditioning or a fan in the room in a temperature 33C. The room was full of mosquitoes. I had a sleepless, sweaty night with 20 mosquito bites. I would never want to stay there again.

Old, in need of a make over
The hotel is located very close to the coliseum and the main shopping and restaurants of the old town. There isn't any air conditioning in the rooms and wifi is only available in the lobby or breakfast area. The rooms are large and you have a view of the giant cranes in the shipyard. They light them up at night. There is parking across the street in front of apartment buildings but there are so many birds your car will be covered the next day if you park it under the trees. Breakfast is limited with bread, cheese, jam and a few pastries. The lobby smelled stale and smoky but our room did not. Overall I think the hotel is in need of a major makeover.

Glorious (& tired) old style
Easy walk to amphitheatre and town for restaurants. Our room overlooked the port and the light show on the cranes at night.

Old charm would stay again
Great staff, really helpful and friendly. The building is amazing and has lots of character. The room was really massive but basic. Place is great value for money! Walking distance to bus station, ferry, city centre, local bus stop & monuments! Great view of harbour too.

A hotel at the of a glorious life
I like 19th century hotels and was prepared for problems by the reviews. But I did not expect to be greeted by a rude and bossy receptionist or banished from the sunny terrace with good views because it had to be locked -ie for the convenience of staff, not guests. The breakfast in luxurious surroundings once used by film stars and royalty was mainly bread and beverages- no cereals, fruit, eggs.

Booked this at short notice for business trip. Location is excellent, easy walking to Old Town & amphitheatre. Room was basic but clean & comfortable. No air-con. Continental breakfast was OK although the choice was limited. Good if all you need is somewhere to sleep. No hotel amenities but bars, restaurants & shops are only 10 mins away. Decor could benefit from a bit of tender loving care but I found this added to it's "faded grandeur" appeal.

The Bat Cave
The first thing we noticed after checking in is there was no air conditioning so naturally we opened the windows. Opening the screen less windows led to Mosquitos habitating our room which are probably what the resident bat eats. Although we may have never known about the bat if we weren't sitting in the dark on the first floor checking emails. Why sit in the dark on the first floor one might ask? It was mostly due to the fact there were no lights which was convient since that was the only floor where the internet works. Overall the accommodations were more than a little bit rustic but the hotel riviera ecosystem was a nice experience. 5 stars for the wildlife.

Dated but so what? The experience was marvelous
Great option for visiting Pula. Close to all attractions-Harbor, Old Town, Amphitheater, etc. Get a room that faces the inside courtyard and you won't hear any noise from the club down the street. Breakfast is meager (rolls and cheese) but dining on the upstairs terrace makes up for it. Great friendly knowledgeable staff for all your travel needs. There is also another travel agency next door to the hotel that is very helpful as well. Will certainly stay there again on my next excursion to Pula.

This is a wonderful old hotel from days gone by. It has a great location just 2 minutes from the ferry port and 10 minutes from the bus station. Our room also had beautiful views if the old town and the harbour. It would have been perfect except for the lack of air conditioning. If you are a hardy traveller, or not travelling in the summer, you will love this hotel. Otherwise, the fan just isn't enough in 40C heat!

Old but convenient
This OLD hotel has a lot of charm, but the comforts are minimal. We only stayed one night to be close to the bus station so it was fine, but I wouldn't want to plan my whole trip around it.
