The house was spacious enough for our large family group (capacity 16, we were 9). A/c in bedrooms only. The beds were excellent, but the rest of the furniture was shabby and worn. The large open patio was a pleasant place to sit, but it allowed rain, mosquitoes and noise into the house. The kitchen is equipped with plentiful dishes and flatware, but no serving dishes, and the pots and pans are scarred from heavy use. Although there is an on-demand water heater, there is no hot water. A shower will be tepid at best. Hot water for washing dishes is heated on the stove. Rust is everywhere: bathroom fixtures, microwave top, fridge doors, barbecue, laundry machines. The 2 fridges are ancient and decrepit, freezing our food. We needed a service call for an air conditioner and a fridge.
The pool was nice, solar heated, so a little cool on cloudy days. The house is close to the beach, which is dirty and the water quite rough. The neighborhood was noisy, day and night. Cofresi neighborhood has a few good restaurants, and it’s close to Ocean World, but it has little else to recommend it.
The staff at the Villa Carolisol were fabulous. Maria, the maid/cook, would have come every day, but we only wanted her twice a week. Junior, the pool boy and general helper, came every day to clean the pool and deck, and brought up the big jugs of water when we needed it. Carlos, the manager was very attentive and responded to every request. We were treated royally!
