This was home base for us as we attended a wedding and family events in the area. There was lots of space in a comfortable setting. We loved the deck and big outdoor table for coffee and card games one morning. We live in Central Oregon but needed the space for our adult children and their significant others. This worked perfectly!
The house is very spacious and comfortable. We were visiting relatives so we didn't get a lot of time to enjoy the view but it was very comfortable and plenty of room for us all to relax and hang out together.
This home has lovely views of water. Our family enjoyed the home and it had all that we needed. The homeowner was considerate by letting us change our reservation dates after a family accident. Thank you, Yvonne!

Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
The house was away from everything. There were little green bugs flying around everywhere. They came into the house and landed in the sheets and lamps. We had plan to use the grill but it was greasy and filthy like it had never been cleaned before. We attempted to contact the host but we were never available to get ahold of anyone via app. Not worth the price for what you get. The lake has a slimy film so we never even went into the water. We booked this place in summer of 2024. Just thinking I should write this so other consumers are warned.
Had a great time staying at the cabin with friends. It was nice to hang out on the dock, would love to come back. Did break a lamp shade and feel really bad. We will be reimbursing for that. Host was very kind with the lamp shade, she is great! Also communication is amazing with her.
We were surprised to find that there was an attached unit that was occupied. They were quiet and it did not lesson our experience just would have liked to have been expecting this.
The house is large and very comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped and makes cooking easy. The location just can't be beat. It's right on the lake and the view is amazing. We loved the giant side yard - we had a family Cornhole tournament!
If I had to pick something I'd change, I think it would be the BBQ grill. It's one of those portable camping grills and the grilling surface is very small and is mostly a griddle kind of surface and not grates.
I communicated with the owner about some maintenance issues on the dock and with the paddle boat, but she addressed those concerns so I'm not going to bring them up here.
Overall, we had a great weekend and enjoyed everything.
We had a nice stay at the house. It is a ranch style home with large living spaces and tile floors throughout the home. The central part of the home feels more like a cabin because of the wood panels on the walls. There were some thoughtful touches including treats/snacks left in the kitchen and extra toothbrushes in the bathroom. The furnishings and decor were very comfortable if a bit dated. There is a large deck overlooking the reservoir and a small propane grill. We were very appreciative of being able to bring our dog with us. Something to note is although the property is fenced there are still areas that a dog could get out if left unsupervised. There is someone renting an attached apartment on one side of the house. The were unobtrusive and did not affect our stay but this should be listed in the VRBO listing. Yvonne responded quickly to our messages. The only issue we had was not receiving the code for the door the morning of our stay. All in all the house would be a good place for a large family gathering.
We enjoyed our stay in this peaceful home. Kitchen was well equipped and the floor plan gives generous room for everyone. Location makes John Day Fossil Beds easy for access. Very pleasant and clean.
Loved the house and all the room. Wish we would have known how to turn up the fan on air conditioner. We got pretty warm.
Water toys need work. Bikes need tuning and tightening. Was fun on the reservoir thanks for toys and jackets. Would rent again. Mae
