Newlywed, Retired, Family, Friends....You know who you are! Imagine sipping your favorite beverage as you gaze through an open arch of the 1,000 sq. ft. porch of your vacation home, La Centinela, to see a spectacular rainbow sunset reflecting on the Rio Grande River. Located on a private ranch along FM 170/The River Road just 7 miles SE of Presidio, Texas and a few miles more to the entrance of Big Bend Ranch State Park, this custom adobe exudes Big Bend Luxury: a well-equipped kitchen, pillowtop king mattresses, organic linens, spa products & yes, A/C! This clean and custom house goes beyond glamping and still comes in under budget for the value.
Thoughtful touches abound at La Centinela, right down to the name of the home. La Centinela is named after the Mexican Mountain just opposite of Rio Bravo Ranch. The architecturally-designed adobe is perched high above FM 170 (widely considered the most scenic road in the Lone Star State). Panoramic views only available to our guests include views of the Alamito Creek / Rio Grande Confluence, as well as Sierra Rica, one of the tallest mountains in the region, the Cerros Las Cuchillas Mountains on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande and the rocky flank of the La Centinela Mountain (and namesake). Earth Space of Santa Fe, New Mexico, custom-built the adobe and used authentic adobe brick construction for the 2-bedroom 2-bathroom masterpiece, including 2 kiva fireplaces and a 1,000+ sq. ft. back porch complete with 6 giant open arches. Guests gravitate to the porch morning, noon and night for coffee sipping, sight seeing, photography, star gazing and the like. Curl up with a good book or a loved one to reconnect with your thoughts, your friends and with nature. Every window at La Centinela boasts a view, and the porch arches are no exception! The windows aren't the only features that are intentional. The entire space has been carefully thought out for your stay, whether it's the open-concept furniture arrangement in the living room, carefully curated mirrors and art, certain style and comfort elements or even hand-chosen books and keepsakes that tell the story of the land and house you have chosen to visit.
