It's been a big dilemma for us whether to review this unique oasis or not: if we tell the world how good it is, the world will book it up and we will lose our secret hideaway. At first sight, a very unassuming property which, as you enter and review, transforms into the stylishly designed inner sanctum that is Palm Sweet. The owner, Aon, has an eclectic eye for beautiful ambience and comforting surroundings. The room was arranged as a small suite; with an annexe entrance furnished with sofa, coffee table and cloakstand - beautiful Thai bath robes and powerful fan. Then to the bedroom which was of good size with welcome aircon. This was located on one side of a most relaxing and creatively-designed courtyard, bedecked with stylish hammocks, loungers, seating enclaves, all hung with glorious flowers and vines. Breakfast is an eternal self-service feast of fruits and cereals, divine pastries, sticky rice tid-bits.... coffee and tea.... just help yourself. An Edenic experience. There is no restaurant as such but the fully-equipped kitchen is at the guests' disposal and the simple experience of visiting the market just 3 minutes away and bringing back delectable street food and heating/serving on Palm Sweet's crockery is a unique experience for today's jaded traveller. On one level, I hope no-one reads this review as we want to keep this experience secret. On another, we want to shout it from the roof-tops: It's amazing!
