The Paulsbo Beach Hideaway was absolutly wonderful and completely blew us away. The house itself is much larger than it seems from the photos and has enough room for the occupancy listed. It was very clean and had everything we needed for a week or so stay. The beach in your backyard and subsequent views are no less than amazing. You can look out the windows to see a beautiful view from anywhere in the house and enjoy exploring the beach in both low and high tide. The host was extremely attentive, but did not overwhelm our stay...perfect balance. I would HIGHLY recommend a stay here!
This was our second year staying at this home. The location is perfect for us. Family from Seattle came out for the day to visit us and we took a couple trips into the Cascades to hike and see some waterfalls.
The home is stocked with everything you need. We did ask for extra sheets and the housekeeper came right over and got us set up. Having the washer/dryer is great.
A few things to note: The home is very close to the Hood Canal Bridge, so there is noise from the traffic. It can also be cool to see when they open and close the bridge. We got to see the USS Kentucky Sub going out on deployment, as it went throught the bridge and canal. Also, at lowtide, it's great to go walk near the bridge on the beach and check out all of the cool marine life and brids. We saw a blue herron several days in a row.
Second, the deck is great, but in the summer during the day, it can get quite hot. It would be nice to have an umbrella or awning.
The house is beautiful overall but lacking in maintenance upkeep and cleaning. Bathroom smelled of urine and laundry room had prior pets with strong smell of urine. Kitchen had no Pyrex baking wear or serving bowls, just a couple plastic salad bowls and mostly plastic plates.. Upstairs bathroom fan and shower handle broken. Master bedroom very bright and needs blackout curtains. Noise from hood canal bridge is very noticeable. We were kept up all night with fog and alarms from bridge the whole nights. Master bedroom sheets stained brown with blood or dark stains and we couldn’t find a backup set. Very limited towels and washcloths. House needs some extra live and supplies to make it fabulous which we expected bc we paid $4000 for the week.
We absolutely loved our stay. We enjoyed the canal and found watching the canal animals and boating and bridge activities so wonderfully entertaining. We are already planning our next visit and cannot wait to stay here again as soon as we can.
This beautiful home is tucked away off the street and down a gravel driveway but once located, we we thrilled with the entire grounds and the up to date house is spectacular. The clear view across the Hood Canal gave us glimpses of Bald Eagles, Blue Herons and more. A highlight of the week was seeing a sea otter family close to shore then come up on the beach right at dusk with their 4 babies. We saw them multiple time during the week.
We were a few miles from historic Port Gamble and very close to the Hood Canal Bridge but the sounds from the latter during the day was almost like "white noise" and at night it is rarely used.
The grocery store, Safeway, is about 6 miles away but an easy drive and rarely much traffic. Four friends rented the home from the SF Bay Area with our classic cars and we were attending a week long event at a local casino. We all found it much more relaxing to stay here, and splitting the cost 4 ways saved us each about $450 over stsying at the casino lodge.
The off site owner Melina was a pleasure to deal with and was quick to respond to text messages.

Poulsbo Getaway
My family and I stayed here for a week while exploring the surrounding areas and national park. Poulsbo is a charming town and we thoroughly enjoyed all that it had to offer. We were slightly less than enamoured with the stay. It is quite a distance from downtown Poulsbo. We had numerous irksome issues about the home and if you value sleep, it won't come easy to you. The beds, pillows, traffic on the bridge noise and horn that warns for fog made for many a sleepless night. But the home did fit us comfortably, in that there was enough space for our family. Basic pantry items in the kitchen are not at your disposal and the cleanliness of the home was questionable. If all of these items aren't a deterrent, then the view and the peaceful water is beautiful. We are grateful for our time and memories there, and wish future travelers a better stay than us.
The Hideaway exceeded our expectations. The house has great views of Hood Canal from both the main floor and second floor. These is lots of flexible space for gathering and relaxing inside as well as outside on the deck. The beach front is easy to access and provided hours of entertainment. The kitchen is well stocked with serving supplies. It was very easy to communicate with our host. We look forward to visiting again.
Paulsbo Hideaway is a beautiful house right on the water. I stayed there with my husband, infant son and parents. The setup is very conducive for families or friends. The kitchen was well stocked with supplies and the house was very clean on arrival. Beds are comfortable with clean linens. Above all, the host is extremely friendly and accommodating as well as easy to communicate with. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
We enjoyed our stay. It was fun to walk down to the beach in the back of the house and play in the sand with my granddaughter. My kids also enjoyed launching their paddle board and kayaks from the beach. The home is nicely decorated and has a well equipped kitchen. Wish it was not so close to the bridge as the road noise and the number of cars on the bridge were not my favorite scenery. It just didn't feel very private. It is a comfortable home for 8 guests.
The house was so lovely and spacious for our adult children, new granddaughter and us. Melina was very prompt with answering any questions we had.
The views were amazing, the waterfront property allowed us to take walks on the beach any time of day. Conveniently located to all kinds of hiking trails. Wild life abounds, saw harbor seals, otters, deer, blue herons, osprey and more! Couldn’t have ask for a more peaceful location. -MR
We had a great vacation at this property. Everything was exactly as described and the pictures were accurate. 2 adult couples stayed in house comfortably with plenty of room to spare. Internet was fast and cell phone reception was great. The view was spectacular. We had a small wedding on the deck and got great pictures on the beach. The house exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend if you are vising the Seattle area, including Bremerton or Bangor sub base!
This was a great house in a great location, perfect for a family with small children. The beach was lots of fun and Melina was quick to answer any questions we had. Excellent
We loved everything about the house and it’s location . It was perfect for what we had planned. Private, relaxing and close proximity to parks, towns, ferry’s.
