Loved our stay in Porto!
Property is great and as advertised. Host was awesome and very accomodating. I would only add that this is in Gaia and a bit of a walk to Porto. It was not a big deal for us and it’s still very nice. But, it could be something to consider for some people. We would defiantly stay here again if ever back in the area.

Perfect host cozy home!
Although we weren’t home enough to enjoy this cute home, Clara was probably the nicest host we ever had. From baking a welcome cake to checking in on us and giving us recommendations she was so kind!

Incredible hospitality
Clara's stone house is beautifully decorated in her wonderful whimsical style and had everything we needed for a fantastic 3 days. But most important Clara went out of her way to share her knowledge of the area, book a table for us at the Fada restaurant, meet us in person with cake and Port and in a warm and hospitable way make sure our needs were met.

Great Host!
We had a great stay at Clara's home. Clara was amazing with communication! She was able to give suggestions on so many things in the area! She even booked a Douro Valley tour for us and had a gluten free cake waiting for us when we arrived. The home is very full of character and is decorated so nicely. From this location we were able to go on day trips to Douro Valley and Aveiro and also explored Porto.

Perfect Spot
Clara was very lovely! She met us at the home with an apple cake and port. The home was lovely and very clean with beautiful views. It is not in downtown Porto which was nice, and there were plenty of restaurants nearby.

Beautiful Home
The house was very nice with lots of space and great views of Porto. It is located just across the river. It is about a 10 minute walk down to old town, which has restaurants and shops. A quick walk across the bridge from old town and you are in the heart of Porto. There is a great bakery just up the street from the house that stopped at every morning. There are also local places nearby for Fado and dinner. Great place. Highly recommended.

Lovely oasis
The apartment was so charming and fit my family of 4 perfectly. Clara was an amazing host and gave us a lot of great recommendations and helped us book an beautiful tour of the Douro valley - a must see! 10/10 would recommend staying here if you are looking to be within walking distance of everything, but quiet enough and away from the tourists. Thanks again Clara for such a nice stay and wonderful lifetime memories!

We can't say enough amazing things about Clara's property@ We loved everything about it- the decorations, the space, the location and the host. Awesome location for exploring Douro River valley
Clara and her family’s historic home was beautiful decorated, and immaculately kept. We were greeted with fresh baked cake and port and a personal tour of our accommodations. The view from the third floor window was amazing. Clara was great at offering tips for our stay and she provided a house Manuel with plenty of options . The kitchen was well appointed. The bathroom and living space had a heater to use during cool evenings while we were there.

Clara’s property was perfect. It was filled with rustic charm . She had obviously put great effort into making sure that guests who stayed, would be comfortable ; great attention to detail . Warm welcome
Before we arrived in Porto Clara had contacted us with suggestions for restaurants and things to see and do. When we arrived Clara was there to meet us and show us around her lovely house. She had baked us a delicious apple cake, such a welcome treat. During our stay Clara was very helpful with ideas and we ate at an amazing restaurant, just around the corner. we never would have found with out Clara. WE had a wonderful stay in Porto.

Exemplary lodging home from an exemplary host
Property is in a rustic establishment with modern amenities. Classic stone walls, fantastic features with beautiful light fixtures and great bedding and bathrooms. Host Clara and her family were most accommodating and helpful in the weeks leading up to the stay to ensure a comprehensively enjoyable stay in the Porto area. Free public parking spot was easily obtainable on the same street. The second floor had a sunroof window that could be opened and for which Porto Harbour could be enjoyed. Would definitely stay here again (if it were available) when visiting again.

Wonderful stay
Clara was a wonderful host. She allowed us to drop our bags early, so we could head out exploring. Parking was easy, directly across from the unit. We loved having an evening drink sitting in the open windows from the top floor with a view of Gaia and Porto. Clara also provided lots of information about tours and restaurants which was very helpful. The only thing I did not understand so adding this information for others. It is a 10 minute walk to the historic center of Gaia -- it takes longer to get across the bridge into old Porto (but still walkable). Had I spent more time looking at the map, I would have realized that in advance, so it was my own mistake.

Clara was amazing.
Clara had a gluten free birthday cake and bread waiting for us upon arrival, along with some port. That was a nice added touch. Communication before and during our stay was very much appreciated. Location is perfect! Just a short walk down to the waterfront and the bridge to Porto. Very steep walk going back at the end of the day. Be sure to bring good walking shoes. Great small convenience store just around the corner where you can pick up fresh fruit and veggies, wine, bread, etc. Also a couple of pastry shops in the area.

We had THE most wonderful experience staying at this lovely property. From the moment we booked until the day we left our host, Clara was utterly fantastic. She replied immediately to every annoying (I'm sure) email we sent, every request we made, every question we had. She booked tours for us, airport transfer and cabs. She greeted us on check in and had prepared a wonderful cake for us and port wine. Please, please don't miss out on Tasca de Gourmet, a tiny restaurant just steps up the street from the property. We ate there many times. The owner is the most delightful lady, food is fantastic. She is very accommodating and the food is so reasonable. The location of this property was perfect for us. Not in the bustle of Porto but close to everything. Thank you again Clara!

Our hillside cottage
We loved Clara’s house, we were here for almost a month and it quickly became our hillside cottage. It’s quiet at night and while close to transportation and the tourist attractions of Gaia, it was removed enough to offer respite and relaxation. I was working remotely from here and enjoyed the top floor with its roof window open so I could smell the air and hear the gulls. Clara was an excellent host and maintained communication through the whole stay. She also surprised us with some home made treats! The hill is steep and the house has multiple stairs and uneven floor levels, so I only recommend it if you have no mobility issues. The AC was really nice to come home to after hot days wandering the streets of Porto and Gaia. The main bed is comfortable, the others were a little stiff but not overly uncomfortable. The bathroom in the primary bedroom was a nice convenience but exceptionally small. Once we worked out the quirks of this old house we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Perfection in Porto
I cannot possibly say enough. Just book this place and see for yourself. Clara is the most amazing host I have ever encountered. Met us at the property ready with a cake and port wine. House is indescribable. Decorated beautifully with a touch a whimsy. Spacious, spotless, and serene. Walkable to downtown. If I could come every year, I surely would!! The absolute best!

Un petit séjour de 5 jours qui nous a fait aimer le Portugal, en grande partie grâce à l'accueil et à la gentillesse de Clara, notre hôtesse. Clara ne se contente pas de louer un logement, elle fait également tout pour que votre séjour se passe bien, donne d'excellents conseils et est toujours prête à vous renseigner (visite d'Aveiro la Venise du Portugal, restaurant de Fado, restaurant chez Paula à 20 mètres de la maison...). Dommage qu'Abritel ne propose pas de donner 6 ou 7 étoiles... Merci pour tout Clara !

Wonderful host, quirky stylish immaculate property
House is lovely, traditional, comfortable, clean and a five minute walk to the lively port area. Oporto is fun, lovely museums, restaurants and boat rides, Clara is an adorable excellent host. She booked taxis and restaurants for us, and let us stay late to meet our airport departure time. Highly recommended.

Up the hill
As has been said by many, Clara is adorable. She is warm & welcoming & kind, & very good about communicating in advance of arrival. The apartment was immaculate & very well equipped. The location, however, is only for the intrepid. It is located on a very steep hill in a non-descript neighborhood. lt is an easy walk down to the bustling riverfront, but it is a challenging walk back up. Also, because of one way streets, taxis/ubers must swing a wide arc, & it never costs less than $7-8+ to get home (or anywhere). The apartment is in a quiet, residential area, with little in proximity other than a well stocked mini-mercado. A half block away, up the hill, though, is a darling woman who has a tiny restaurant. There is not even a sign, just a chalkboard. I wish we had discovered her sooner!
