Nestled in the heart of Portland, this historic mid-century modern home offers a unique blend of Japanese architectural influences and Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired design elements. Originally built in 1957, this home has been lovingly restored to preserve its distinctive features while incorporating touches that reflect the Guernsey experience of the Falla family, who once called this place home. From the large central fireplaces to the floating "clouds" with cove lighting above, every detail tells a story of innovation and cultural fusion.
Step inside and discover a spacious interior adorned with slate floors, shoji-inspired windows, and woven grass fabric ceilings that invite the beauty of the outdoors inside. The central stone volume not only adds a touch of sustainability but also creates a cozy atmosphere by retaining heat during cooler evenings. With a material palette that pays homage to both Wrightian principles and Japanese design concepts, this home is a true architectural gem that seamlessly blends form and function.
Enjoy easy access to some of Portland's most iconic attractions, including the Hoyt Arboretum, Washington Park, and the Portland Zoo, all within walking distance. For dining and entertainment, explore the historic Goose Hollow neighborhood, home to charming establishments like The Hof and Goose Hollow Inn. Whether you're relaxing in the heated pool, grilling on the patio, or unwinding by the fireplace with a Netflix favorite, this home offers a perfect blend of comfort and convenience. With a range of amenities including a fully equipped kitchen, cozy bedrooms, and step-free access throughout, this single-level home is ideal for families, groups, and guests with accessibility needs.
